But Marksberry was still looking for a “monster hire” to get the most ROI from the $37.5 million he’s spending with CSU, and with that in mind, he approached Lubick about the university relations job last summer. That was months before the Rams stumbled to a 3-9 record and Washington fell short of the expectations, too.
In June, when the two first met at the Ram Strength golf tournament, Lubick told Marksberry about being interested in a career after coaching, how the profession had changed — “There aren’t any coaches out there like my dad anymore where it’s all about relationships and family,” he said – and how he’d like to spend more time around his parents, who are getting up there in age. It took a full season to convince Lubick to come aboard.
Tell me again Roof how it's not fair to question how hard Lubick was working this year.....
