Is it fair to say that our scheme is not good, or the coaches don’t know how to get the kids ready for the bowls games

The latter. But it’s moot, the defense is so far down the list of what went wrong today.

Ohio State averaged 575 yards per game this year. The offense consistently put them back on the field in the first half.

They aren't blameless, but they aren't the problem. Rapp throwing mckinney into the fire (first start vs dwayne haskins) didn't help.

With your offense being a nonthreat the opposing O doesn't have to force anything and isn't afraid to take shots because they know they aren't going to fall behind.

Also it wears the defense down knowing brownings about give up 7 points and can't score.

Maybe if the offense was actually putting some pressure on the other team the defense could do a little better. I don't blame this game on the defense, our offense is such a clusterfuck disaster right now.

This. The defense has kept the team in games and won games while having almost zero help from offense or special teams

Then why did they take shots and tear us up on three separate first half drives?

Well we didn't blitz until the third quarter. Once we started getting pressure, our defense changed. The first half OSU was able to go what they wanted to the middle, whether running or passing.

As in they can take some chances and play loose because if they get a 3 and out it isn't that big of a deal.

Versus being super tight and feeling they can't afford to waste a drive or they'll fall behind.

When the O is scoring a lot you can play more aggressive on D and focus on stopping the short stuff and getting to the QB because the other team isn't going to try to go deep as much (and even if they do it's not the end of the world)
