@BearsWiin and I discussed how the CAl UW rivalry was the first big West Coast rivalry from the teens into the 20's. Ancient hatred there including CREW

Of course 1923 was no different. We always lose to Cal. But we crushed USC thus earning their lasting respect

Who is Oregon Agricultural College (lol)?
    Oregon state

UW wasn't even conference champion in 1923; Cal was. Cal declined an invitation to the previous Rose Bowl (so USC went instead), and the following year the Rose Bowl committee decided to invite UW instead of Cal, who had snubbed them.

1920-1923 Cal was 44-0-4 with three national championships

And Cal is the only university that has three Olympic Golds in crew, yay Ky

Sounds like the Rose Bowel committee felt that Cal was TOO HIGH
