When do they play a team with a pulse?

They don't get to lose at home to dreck like Stanford.

I've been telling Bama fans they have a chance to be the best team ever on paper and beat the 95 Nebraska margin or victory record, even with them having to play 15 games as opposed to 12.

You figure they only have two games left in LSU and Auburn for the regular season who both suck on offense. They have to play Georgia twice in the SEC & playoff title games and they will roast tOSU in the first round.

    Why is he still coaching

He's got nothing left to accomplish

He has but one thing left to accomplish, without which he cannot go down as GOAT: fix the stink he left in Miami, where he FAILED.

Go back to where you failed Nick, coach the Canes back to their rightful place in the natural order, get USC's respect, and then retire perfect.

I laugh at the NFL/College coach debate.

A lot of guys who are great in the NFL would fail in college and vice versa.

    Completely different challenges.

You don't see 100k fans in an NFL stadium ever. Arguably more pressure in the college game with boosters and alumni fanbase. The grind of recruiting 2022 kids when it's still 2018.

NFL essentially eliminates the Jimmy's/Jos discrepancy in college and requires more X's and Os, so there's that aspect to it.

They all make about the same.

Saban can't leave any wiggle room for Urban to steal GOAT status if he leaves. That's more important to his legacy than getting the dolphins to a conference championship game.

He's going full Thanos. Somebody's gotta step up.

They are untested this year so far. None of this means much at all.

If Saban wanted to try his luck elsewhere and be guaranteed a NT, there's only one logical choice and it sure as heck ain't the U.

    Seriously?

Why there and not the U?

    Both programs have rich histories.

Both have won titles in the color TV era.

Both have access to insane talent bases.

Both recruit at a high level when they're up and when they're down.

Both have littered the NFL with impact players for years, the U arguably doing it better the last few years.

Both have big brand recognition and cult followings.

Draw the meaningful distinction between these programs for me. Because I've always considered USC to be the closest analog to Miami. Their academic histories are even similar. Both were private school destinations for wealthy kids who couldn't get into more elite schools and both have become much harder to get into, though SC plays that game better by making Fall admits insanely selective and admitting the other 1/3 of the class second semester and transfer (SC is a huge transfer school) so as their lower stats don't get counted in their profile.

^ and both play at rented stadiums and have to compete with the sun and beach for leisure time on Saturday.

    list goes on.

SC has no blue blood school located anywhere near their recruiting base. When SC has competent corching they can get whoever they want and neither us?, Oree-gon, UCLA, ASU are a threat. Hell, Austin is like 1400 miles from LA. Bama is only 800 miles from Miami and FSU and Florida are a hell of a lot closer than that.

SC's rented stadium is much closer to campus and a national historic landmark.

Not saying you shouldn't be able to win NT's at Miama so don't twist. They have more than anyone not named Alabama since college football was invented in 1983.

    Oh, Imma twist Yellow.

The right coach at Miami does as much or moar damage as the right coach at SC. Cook it!!!!!!

The number of guysm taking names in the NFL from one fucking neighborhood in their city is staggering enuff to have started a TV Show.

And there are key pockets of the mid-Atlantic where they've pulled historically, and they've been able to recruit pretty consistently in Texas, GA and Louisiana. I know SC can recruit, but it's hard (hard) to argue that's a variable in their favor over the Canes.

The only people who really care about stadiums are losers that have on-campus stadiums. hTh.

Ignoring academis considerations, Florida State seems more like the USC of the ACC than Miami does.

    No.

Miami and SC have moar in common, staring with who they are physically: mid-size to large private universities in very urban locations that compete with big beach and night life for attention. This ACC shit is a small part of the history. Miami has more titles. FSU has been less up and down, but that's about it.
