I'm not even mad at Lubick. What the fuck is a Recruiting Coordinator's job if not to maintain some modicum of oversight over how each position and region is being recruited?? What is a head coach's job if not to maintain oversight of the coaches he hired to work for him?? How the fuck was Lubick allowed to mail it in for this long? This is on Pete, as well as the guy he chose as his recruiting coordinator, for letting it get as bad as it did.
Every motherfucking year we shit the bed at one, often two positions. It creates roster imbalance and holes that the teams with the best talent and coaching will always exploit. Our defensive class this year is legendary... but our skill position recruiting was fucking atrotious. While the overall recruiting has leveled up considerably, these glaring holes have happened every fucking year under Pete. Until he corrects this and commits to making sure EVERY coach on his staff is doing his job in recruiting (unlike with Pease, Lubick, Strausser, Paopao) we're gonna continue having trouble beating blue blood teams.
Christ... we don't have a single goddamed receiver that will put any fear into a defense. We seem to be developing some decent taller, possession guys in Jones, Ozzy, & Spiker. And we have a couple of capable midgets in Fuller & Chico. But there's nobody elite, nobody to stretch the field... nobody that a defense really has to scheme & account for.
I can't fucking believe we lost this kid to Oregon. Everything was stacked in our favor. Total and complete bedshitting on this one. -
