I do enjoy Def Leppard from time to time, but this was an easy call for me.
I don't even count anything Def Leppard did after Pyromania. If I did, they would lose to a pile of ostrich shit.
Well, that or when I heard about smallpox blankets.
Those were huge accomplishments in the burgeoning 'main stream metal' genre (Cum On Feel tha Noize, etc)... and we all ate that shit up. It was super and it made sense... but toward the late 80s white people started getting really weird. When Motley Crue (who I had previously enjoyed) started doing 'Girls, Girls, Girls' I knew I was about to cash out of white people life and no amount of Metallica and GnR could save it...
So, rap was ascendent that that time and for some FUCKING OBVIOUS reason, I found Run DMC, 2 Live Crew and Schoolly D waaaayyyy more fucking interesting than Poison... but the death knell for me was really Pour Some Sugar on Me.
I literally remember this video coming on MTV - I was at this guy Sean Griswold's (who was a fuckstick) house because we didn't have cable and I put up with his loser ass so I could watch cable after school with his hot mom and fat Italian step-dad... well, anyway, for some reason I wasted 8th grade going over there... but this was the video that did it for me. After this, I vowed to tell white people to fucking DIAF and I checked out of white people music for a couple years until my older brother turned me on to Sub Pop bands and then I was like 'oh, this is actually rock n roll' ... anyway... I know I voted for DL, but seriously fuck them.
