symbolic significance of the cupcake concession at HS

While it's easy to understand why the Medical school would endorse the cupcake concession to grow it's client list of future type2 diabetics, is there a deeper symbolic reason why this is a featured 50 yd line, 100 level concession at Husky Stadium?
Just look at those things. Who would pay $5 for a f'ing cupcake that looks to be a month old where the glob if sugar on top(sizzle) is bigger than the cupcake itself(steak)? Watch the reaction when somebody bites into that thing. They pull it away and look at it as if to say, "wait a minute... that isn't what I expected"
