On the other hand, USC allegedly approached Sark after year 1 or year 2 of his UW tenure and hardly anything was said. He got himself a small raise, then Sark was Sark.
I don’t know if Willie can coach. Any coach with any skill at all could have stepped in and won 7 games with the talent at Oregon.
The question is this: Is he 7 win Willie? Or, is he a true program builder, capable of consistent 10+ win seasons?
Color me skeptical of coaches who come in and cut heads off snakes, talk of vicious animals, end program monopolies in major markets —Hi Rick!— or start “Go Husky” chants.
I’ll say this for Willie; he’s played this thing pretty darn well. Either way, he’s getting paid.
