Maybe the Big11 shouldn't have Rutgers in their conference if UW is going to get grief for scheduling them. Does the rest of the Big11 get grief for playing them?
Also, people flipped us shit for Idaho in 2016, but Idaho was a 9 win team, including a bowl win. They finished the season ranked higher than a lot of P5 schools. So everybody that flipped us shit about Idaho can fuck the fuck off.
That said, fuck our OOC schedule this year and many years over the last 15 or so years. Soft OOC games is one of the reasons I stopped buying season tickets... well... that and also Gilby/Ty as head coaches.

Sweet. Makes it easier for me to get good seats. (faggity wink emoji)

Wisconsin has nothing to do with out recent history of scheduling the likes of Sac State and Georgia State.
As long as we get back to A-B-C formula doesn't really matter in my view if the C is Sac State or fucking San Jose State. But the B-C-C or C-C-C formula sucks for those of us buying season ticks.

It's all about who you get as the "A" matchup. NGAF that Alabama played Western Kentucky and Chattanooga because they started the season by curb stomping USC. Clemson played Troy and South Carolina but nobody said dick because they faced and beat Auburn.
Yeah playing slapdicks like Sac State and Portland State is brutal to watch, but everyone does it. The big problem for UW (since 2012) is not playing a Power 5 team of any significance. It just gives the idiot football talking heads fodder to justify their desire to hypocritically kick down on a team like UW so they can kiss up to an SEC team.
After this year it would seems to be a problem that's been remedied - well except for 2019 (and 2021 & 2022 if Michigan decides to be a total bitch.)

Scheduling is a double edged sword. Strength of schedule is highly overrated. Two loss teams do not make the playoff (haven't yet) no matter how weak of schedules the one loss team has.
That said, there are only 12-14 games and nobody wants to waste the three non conferences ones on these dreck teams. We want to watch entertaining games against the big boys.
What I really want to happen is the NCAA steps in. BCS Teams shouldn't be able to play 2-4 patsies, which nearly everyone does. It should be one a year.
-Cut D1 to 80 teams in 8 divisions of 10 -Everyone plays a 9 game conference schedule with 3 OOC games -Institute promotion/relegation -Ban scheduling lower division teams -8 team playoff of division winners -Get rid of bowls (except those of the #fresh variety)

Take the such Euro fag J, out of this and it might work.
4, 16 team conferences split regionally, then north & south. No more conference champion bullshit.
10 game regular season.
8 team playoff between all north & south teams. Winner of each faces off for the whole thing.
Bowl games can be for the 56 teams that didn't make the playoffs that still have good fan bases.
With only 64 teams there will be no shit scheduling.
