    The word "liberal" has become a dirty word. It used to mean pretty much lover of freedom, now it represents gross government overreach + persecution is some countries (Canada, several European countries) with the installation of authoritarian, Orwellian political systems where free speech goes by the wayside. It's also become stained by its close allegiance with Islam, a real headscratcher there. The western 'liberal' basically threw away the compass and is hopelessly lost in the woods as he continues to devolve into an ever more primitive life form.
