Tequilla Rant - NFL Combine

TequillaTequilla Member Posts: 19,931
Accidentally made the mistake of listening to Softy's show today for about 5 minutes to hear him drop a gem about how 5 of the 7 UW combine invitees were recruited by Sark ...

WTF is this shit Softy?

Who developed the players for the last 3 years? Was it Sark while he was getting exposed as a fraud due to his alcoholic and adulterer lifestyle? Nope, that was Pete in making each of these players get to a level that they would have NEVER have gotten to under Sark. That's not a fucking opinion ... that's a FUCKING FACT!!!

Why do these media fucking hacks think that they so blatantly disrespect Pete like that and then expect that Pete will bend over backwards for them with access, interviews, and transparency? What insane FS fucktards.

I wonder if idiots like Softy have come to grasp WHY Pete is able to recruit so well? Why is it that this prim and proper coach that talks about his OKG's is bringing in classes that from a talent standpoint is as good as any that have ever been seen in the history of the program? It's because players know that they will come in, learn, and develop the skills necessary to not only win in college, but build the foundation to be able to have successful NFL careers.

So go ahead and keep jumping on the nuts of players like Jake Haener in the 2017 recruiting class as the guys you want to get for interviews on Signing Day and miss the mark that the guys that are going to be the foundation of taking the program to the next level.

Sure fucking talent alone may win you 7 or 8 games but great coaching can take it to 10+.

In fairness, when I made the comment, Oregon was coming off of a 7-6 (4-5 in conference) year in 2006 and ended 2007 with a 9-4 (5-4 in conference) Sun Bowl winning season.

It was not unreasonable at that point to conclude that Mike Belotti had peaked as a coach at that point (which turned out to be true as he was out after the 2008 season). What wasn't known at that point was that they would stumble into Chip Kelly who was basically an unknown at that point.

If you're taking my comments as an endorsement of Tyrone that was foolish. That being said, the '06 team was probably a bowl team if Stanback didn't get hurt and the '07 team should have also been a bowl team. When my comments were made they were coming off of a game where UW lost at home by 3 to #1 USC ...

Take all the screenshots you want now, but UW will be passing Oregon this season ... Oregon's going downhill and it could happen quickly.

So what you're saying is that I jumped the gun on Oregon by a coach ...

The downfall of Oregon was inevitable ... Chest wrote an article about it a few years ago that was also spot on. It was just a matter of time.

Let's see what Willie T does ... so far there's a lot of reason to think he's a fool in over his head. If he performs as well as he has his first few months on the job, Oregon's slide to mediocrity will be close to being solidified.

I was trolling, but yes. You jumped the gun by the coach of one of the best runs in Pac 10-12 history.
