Exactly what good would that have done. They tried Darnold in the Bama game. He played 3 series in the 3rd quarter and did worse than Browne. Then he finished the last half of the 4th quarter and couldn't do anything against Bama's whole bench of reserves. SC may have improved some with Darnold, but not enough to move on Bama's D. And giving up 49 to Penn St shows their defense is exactly the same.

Who HAS done anything against Bama's defense?

FWIW, Bama's whole bench of reserves is still a top 15 defense, and their non-travel team is still better than half the Pac 12 conference.
