Defense vs. Offense in the suckfest

Neither was particularly great. But an opponent 24 points should be enough for a #4 team to win at home. The defense adjusted enough at halftime to win. USC got rushing yards, but not really impactful, game changing yardage. Their damage was done down the middle passing, nuff said on that.
The offense did not adjust enough, coming into the game or at halftime. USC had superior talent, we knew that. Tonight they played a very sound defensive game that did not get beat by misdirection. And not just talking about the Ross reverse. They didn't overpursue, they read keys, and if they did make a mistake they had the physical talent to overcome it, mostly. I thought we might have a chance on Rapp's second interception, but no points there was the game. We had no offensive answers.
We got beat, straight up. I'd like to think we're better physically than what was showed tonight. But the inverse of that is mental weakness. Which is worse? I'm not sure I like that answer.
The script now says we lose the next two. We shall see what a 10-year coach can do to overcome said script.

How does UW get pressure on Falk?
-
We don't. They're going to be throwing quick.
-
doubt they will. but against that team, the strategy of letting them dunk you until the drive fizzles out will work.PineapplePirate said:How does UW get pressure on Falk?

Unless Tonya Harding comes out of retirement, I have no idea.

That is what will keep me up tonight. We stuck our corners on the island, SC didn't throw at them, and still was able to give Darnold more than enough time to hit us over the middlePineapplePirate said:How does UW get pressure on Falk?
I don't know how you fix that vs. WSU and their 4/5 wides. -
I didn't rewatch last weeks Cal game but I remember they were putting pressure on Browning. Falk was not pressured in their game against Cal.godawgst said:

The defense was somewhat bad. The offensive performance was disgusting.

Our offense is great against inferior talent, but all of a sudden it becomes tougher to play their pass happy game when the windows to throw are smaller and the defenders close faster. Should have ran right at them from the get go and forced them to crowd the box.
The fact of the matter is that we just weren't as good as advertised. I have been saying all along that if we had been playing real teams all year, we would have lost a couple already. The other playoff teams would fuck this team up. -
This sums it up.RoadDawg55 said:The defense was somewhat bad. The offensive performance was disgusting.

But we have the top scoring offense and the best offense in the pac12!!! only an idiot would want to fire the offensive coordinator. /sRoadDawg55 said:The defense was somewhat bad. The offensive performance was disgusting.

defense adjusted nicely after halftime and even produced some great plays that should have sparked the comeback. offense said lol no.

We did adjust at half on D, and brought 1-3 extra guys on most plays which gave SC issues. I am glad they didn't adjust much, as with the ways our ends were crashing, a fake dive, toss sweep, or Darnold keeping it, and they would still be running this am.

Defense was shit against Arizona, Utah and USC. It is not as good as it was billed to be. Offense is better than it was billed to be.
