Is Washington being treated fairly?

It probably should have happened last week, but the unbeaten Huskies are now in the projected playoff field at No. 4. That’s probably appropriate, for now, given that they really only have one high quality win against No. 16 Utah. But make no mistake — if Washington goes unbeaten and continues to play the way it has from the beginning of the season, a No. 4 ranking will be highly unfair.

Not for the Huskies, but rather for the No. 1 seed. This is far too good of a team for Alabama to draw in the semifinals, and it is not a mismatch player for player. The Huskies haven’t gotten as much love as Clemson or Michigan, but they may be better based on the eye test and the way they’ve crushed pretty much everyone in their wake. Moreover, drawing Chris Petersen after a month to prepare could be an absolute nightmare for Alabama’s defensive staff.

I laughed. Unfair to 'Bama, indeed.

the problem with all these articles is that the writers and talking heads on ESPN are giving credit to tOSU for good losses against Penn State despite PSU not being ranked at the time and then jumping a million spots into the top 15 while at the same time not giving credit for UW beating #7 Stanford (at the time of the game/ranking)...it's a double standard that fits the narrative of their confirmation biases to get the teams with big names in the Big 10 and SEC into the playoffs for....wait for it... TV ratings. #Shocker.

It doesn't matter where a team was or wasn't ranked when you played them. You use all the information at hand, not the limited amount of information we had at that point in time.

It's not a double standard, the same would be true if, for example, Rutgers turned into a juggernaut after we beat them. That would be a quality win now even though it didn't look like it at the time.

    As it should be.

If UW beats USC 45-14, then they suck and it's not a quality win. If we struggle, and beat them 17-14, it's a great win and we (?) are awesome. Stupid system.

That's pretty much what happened with Utah. Win out.

you think Penn State is now a juggernaut? have you seen them play?

have you seen Ohio State play? with the exception of JT Barrett and his broken play runs they don't look like a top 4 team. Clemson with close wins at home?

The real political crime in the system is the midtier teams losing up, they turn into pawns in the SOS game. PSU, Auburn, FSU, Ole Miss for a while. The quality win ranking game is bullshit.
