I'd like to know about these USC advantages. Are we talking escorts and blow? Are we talking about shady ones like coffee cups full of cash? Or potentially real non-shady ones like alumni connections providing career opportunities, etc.?

All of the above. Clearest case of abundance, ever.

USC is what it is. When they get the right coach, we are truly fucked.

Just the home town. Like our fence around the state. USC is ingrained in the community. It's a dream

Okay, that got longwinded. The recruiting classes that made up those five NFL drafts were essentially 2009-2014. OF the CB's and S's recruited by each school for those years:

    USC:
    5-stars: 3
    4-stars: 11
    Top 100 overall: 5

Note: Adoree Jackson was ranked the #7 player in the country, went 1st round. T.J. McDonald was ranked the #32 player in the country, went 3rd round. So basically the only guys who went in day one or two of the draft for USC were guys considered 1st-round talents before they even showed up on campus.

    UW:
    5-stars: Zero
    4-stars: 5
Top 100 overall: 1 (Budda Baker)

1st-rounders Desmond Trufant and Marcus Peters were ranked #877 and #489 overall. 2nd-rounders Kevin King and Sidney Jones were ranked #571 overall and NA. Sidney Jones was so little thought of he was ranked the 94th-best CB in the country.

Seriously, why would somebody trust their career development to USC?

    You're missing the boat.

My brother in law was a Hackett recruit that played under Pete, and had a cup of Joe in the league.

There are USC advantages that the UW will never be able to touch. This extends far beyond football.

    That is WHY.

Kevin King signed a contract worth $7.1 million. Budda Baker, $6.8 million. Sidney Jones, even after his injury, $6.1 million.

They can buy all the pussy & weed they want with that money. Somehow, "hanging out in LA" as an incentive pales in comparison....

If I’m reading his cryptic poast correctly I think he’s saying that his Bro-in-law went to Starbucks after he got drafted. BFD if you ask me.

Not really ... they can only take so many kids per year ... now that we've got Petersen for the long haul and results to match ... eventually we'll get close to them in recruiting (not surpass) but we'll outcoach and outdevelop the kids and the NFL will come calling more often.

USC will always get the lion's share of talent but there's lots leftover ... my question is whether Petersen needs to dip into the gangster pool like Don James did to get over the top or whether he can still fulfill the Boise St-plus-plus in-the-pac-12, OKG model.

    (that hurt to type out)

Why do you hate Marcus Peters?

Not everyone wants to live in Seattle for the rest of their lives. I’m from up there and have been down in LA since 2009..it’s a great place to live dispite what the sentiment in the Northwest is about the region. As a few people have mentioned there are plenty of advantages as a USC alumni in Southern California. Just like for UW grads in Seattle. There’s no denying the track record of the past 5 years of UW’s w/ DBs in the NFL however USC offers a lot as well. Incredibly strong network in this region. I’m sure that’s why his father is pushing for USC; the opportunities post career are immense.
