Lots of fans appear as douchecanoes under the veil of internet anonymity. It seems that when you type things in your underwear in your parents basement, the douche quotient always increases. I tend to think that the inter webs not only encourages the worst fans to be express “bold” opinions, it also encourages the worst out of otherwise sober fans. Take a look at the game time commentary of some of our fan boards for some perspective. Take a break from reading those boards and enjoy your evening.
Having been one of the aforementioned douchecanoes (I'm totally using that IRL the next time someone cuts me off in traffic) participating in the game thread, I honestly don't think any of us said anything worse than what you'd hear in a normal sports bar. People say all sorts of shit when they're watching their team in a close game. So I'd say some of these Utes fan are being a little hyper-sensitive.
Still, I would rather that our fanbase *not* have the reputation of being assholes. That's one mantle I don't want us taking from Oregon. I'm not saying we have to be Nebraska Classy (a healthy amount of cockiness is a good thing), but...moderation. Especially since we haven't gotten back to the Rose Bowl/National Championship - yet.
That all being said...I got all yo' backs when shit goes down at the Aurora 7-11. Somebody better hold my gold though.

I don't mind being hated. I just want all the venom directed our way because we're better - not because some of our fans start doing dumb shit like throwing bags of urine at the opposing team, etc.

The W fans on reddit were class too, but there is one board of UW fans that is like an asshole contest. Like Go Duck level of assholes. I lived in Seattle for a little while and people were so polite. I don’t know whow that other group is or why.
