What the article doesn't point out is that police and medical examiners almost always err on the side of classifying questionable deaths as "accident" (when there's no sign of foul play involved). If the ME calls it "suicide," it has a ton of downstream consequences, like causing tremendous pain for surviving families, and preventing them from being able to collect on life insurance.
