An interesting quandry: Who starts at nose when Qualls is healthy, he or Gaines?

Abundance. 3 man rotation with Virta Via. That combo has been awfully effective against the run.

Gaines and Qualls have been on the field at the same time quite a bit. Next year Vea will be tough to keep off the field as well

If only doog legend Bill Diddly redshirted

When he is a senior he will be making a bunch of plays, which should be his junior year.

    Qualls will probably start.

Prior to Qualls' injury, Gaines was rotating in behind Tupou while Vea was rotating in for Qualls. They're have been combinations of each, but I can see Gaines filling in for Tupou's DT spot next year.

I love the almost blunder of throwing him out there against georgia state last year.

So do I. I think it's fantastic that our coaching staff is so fucktardedly and cluelessly out of sync that they're not even on the same page about who is redshirting and who isn't.

Seems like something they might want to talk about somewhere other than on the sideline during a game.

    FYFMFE.

That is assuming it actually happened the way it is described.

Caple is also the only person who ever had Gaines ahead of Qualls on the depth chart last year.

I would vote for Gaines. That's not a knock on Qualls. I just think Gaines has been more impressive.

This is part of the reason why I think we are married to Peterman whether we like it or not.

He is good enough to keep Washington competitive and lets face it, that is all the admin care about.

And they would blunder the next hire, nobody trusts them to actually hire someone better than Peterman.

Reality is reality, and this is Husky football now.

Gaines was indeed listed as the #2 NT for the first 3 or 4 games last year IIRC. Gaines has had 2 games with a large amount of reps and he's been Lineman of the week as AZ and led the team in tackles against Utah. Gaines got the AZ RB with one arm while holding off an O lineman and picked off Booker at Utah with just his left hand! And dropped them both on the spot for no gain. I've never seen that before, this kid is a kick ass player!
