Slow Starts with Petersen

Compounding the issue with the offense are the slow starts by both offense and defense in all of Petersen's losses. When breaking down the score by half-time, we see that UW always plays better in the second half (with the exception of Stanford):

1st half: Stanford 13, UW 13
2nd half: Stanford 7, UW 0

1st half: Oregon 28, UW 6
2nd half: Oregon 17, UW 14

1st half: ASU 10, UW 0
2nd half: ASU 14, UW 10

1st half: UCLA 31, UW 10
2nd half: UW 20, UCLA 13

1st half: Arizona 21, UW 17
2nd half: UW 9, Arizona 6

1st half: Oklahoma State 24, UW 0
2nd half: UW 22, Oklahoma State 6

1st half: Boise State 16, UW 0
2nd half: UW 13, Boise State 0

1st half: Cal 20, UW 7
2nd half: UW 17, Cal 10

This issue really likes with the coaching staff and how they prepare for these games. The fact that every loss by Petersen, except one, is caused by a lopsided first half is because they're not adequately preparing for each game. It's an issue that needs to be addressed, especially since this fails to account for other games with slow starts like Hawaii, Georgia State, and Colorado.
