JoJo Mathis

Pretty good article for a puff piece. Petersen and Choade are both really high on Mathis.

It's not a small thing and shouldn't be treated as a big thing. It 's a series of small things to reach a big thing. IMO every recruit should be asked what they want from playing at UW. If those big things are inline with what UW desires then you recruit the kid. If that kids becomes a part of the program them they need support in achieving those thing trough small measurable steps. If those big things don't involve bettering the program then they should not be a part of the program. If those things do involve bettering the program and themselves then it should be fully supported by the program.

A lot of these kids just want to play football. A lot of these kids just want to get out of there current situation. It's up to the program to show the kids that no matter where they started the program will enrich then if they follow the steps. And they can achieve their bigger desires if they follow the program set for them.

This sets Peterson a part from a Sark. Peterson tells them where they are and what they need to do to reach there bigger objectives and the kids respond.

Smart business does this today. It should not shock anyone that anyone can do this with simple tangible principles and execution.

Leaders lead. Sark Sarks. Peterson leads. This is exactly why UW is in good hands.

Doesn't mean shit if he doesn't get a couple sacks today.

Sacks are important, but it's not the same defense. I doubt anyone gets double digits in sacks. Kikaha was a freak. Andrew Hudson was a solid player, but he got his sacks because he played with Shelton and Kikaha. Mathis doesn't get bullied in the run game like Hudson did at times.

It's like I'm taking crazy pills arguing that Mathis kind of sucks with you on the other end, but quite honestly, this year he's been pretty owned.

He's not penetrating. That's the problem, he's getting backed off the ball a lot and he's not in the backfield much. Qualls is in the backfield more than he is.

He need to hit the QB consistently. Today especially.
