I don't get the outrage. The darling of a few on the bored, Alabama, has the following non-conference schedules over the next 2 years.....
2015 - Wiscy (in TX, essentially a home game) - Middle Tennessee - ULM - Charleston Southern
2016 - USC (in TX, essentially a home game) - Western Kentucky - Kent State - Chattanooga
.....and an 8 game conference schedule. There are plenty of reasons to not support our AD, but our football scheduling is not one of them.
Texas isn't as close to Alabama as you seem to think it is.
Close enough to where Alabama fans will constitute 80% of the stadium. So, essentially an Alabama home game.
Bullshit.
This isn't LSU playing "neutral" games in New Orleans. This is Bama playing three states away, outside of it's conferences foot print (Dallas is not SEC territory).
If you actually believe this is essentially a home game then everytime UW ever beat Michigan or Iowa or Purdue or anybody else in the Rose Bowl was "essentially a home game", the UW advantage in LA is far greater than the Bama advantage in Dallas.
You may wanna try going to a neutral game at Cowboy stadium vs an SEC SEC SEC team.
it's a fucking Home game. Don't give a fuck if it's Vanderbilt. Fucking HOME game.
That will never happen, #MyDawgs don't play real non conference opponents.
But still, LSU's a hell of a lot closer to Dallas than Bama is, and Oregon's a lot further than Wiscy. Not sure your sample size of one is that compelling.
Pool Boy cares about $$$ and will only accept home-and-homes if and only if the other team is willing to host UW on an odd year. That way, every year UW will have 7 home games.
Pool Boy doesn't care that having having 6 home games with 2 marquee OOC games is way more interesting for fans than 7 home games with 3 shit-tier OOC games.
FWIW, UW sold 64k for Georgia State, 63k for Eastern, and 62k for Illinois.
Until the fans fight back, they'll just keep scheduling teams like Montana, North Dakota, and pretty soon we'll have a home-and-home with WMU.

I'm in the middle on this. Those are Charmin soft schedules and the SEC should play a 9 game conference schedule like the other conferences. Alabama does at least play one tough non conference game. They can't help it if Wisconsin or USC suck five years after the game was scheduled.

Fair point but emulating the SEC style of scheduling is why tcollege football is getting worse. Emmert needs to be his own man. Don't tell me that out of 51 or so teams, you can't find two per year to schedule. They're getting plenty of tv money and AA sell out money. They should be in the black.Go cut transgender water polo or some shit (it's transgender so the feminists can't whine ).

And yes, there are more LSU "grads" living in Texas than Louisiana.
