What would UW's record have to be to be considered a pleasant surprise?
I just want the opportunity to still be dooging for the north in November. Assuming the field is as jumbled as I think it will be, 2 losses in conference won't be a death sentence.
Drop USC and Oregon but running the rest is doable imo. Stanford on the road might as well be a home game. Going into tempe in mid november with a chance would be nice. I'll doog for that.
Usually it's just us getting our hearts ripped out of our chests and then stomped on before dying of Race's AIDS.
IMO...
2000: "Year 2 of this hotshot coach and a local QB that is full of talent but hasn't quite taken us to the next level." Result: Tui cements himself as a Husky legend and we win the motherfucking Rose Bowl in the last great season in FIFTEEN FUCKING YEARS. Result: PLEASANTLY SURPRISED.
.
People forget that Tui had to get by the one shoed Bubushka's to get to the Rose bowl that year.

Question for the old timers: Has the Pac 8/10/12 ever been worse than in 1999?
1994 was pretty bad IIRC. It wasn't horrible, but it was very middle heavy, and Lambright fucking sucked and held us back from a non-Rose Bowl. Whoregon lost to Hawaii and was about 1-3 at one point, and they were the tallest midget. Still, '99 was worse. Ty won that year.

The conference champs lost 69-17 to Texas (and also lost to San Jose State).
Probably 1999. Picked to finish 6th or 8th if I recall. Had the Rose Bowl almost locked up and blew it at UCLA.
That game was the mother of all ironies for the huskies: -It was a Paus that did them in. Cory not Casey. -It screwed UW out of a rosebowl -AND as a result it got Ty into the rosebowl, which in my opinion really created the false narrative that he was good coach and got him the ND job and later UW.
If UW won that game, not only are they in the RB, they arguably never hire Ty. Butterfly effect.
This is a good thread—let's not ruin it with Ty-blaming. Only fucking Doogs think Ty did anything to our program.
We were ONE AND TEN the year prior to Ty's hire. Ty sucked, but after 30 straight .500+ seasons we won ONE game in 2004.
Ty would've won more than one in '08 with Jack, too.
I hate Ty, but acting like his hire was some atrocity is stupid.
It was Gilby. Gilby is Fredo.
Also, '99 was the last pleasant surprise. We got fucked in the UCLA game by the refs.

The conference champs were coached by a man who eventually went owen12.

I can't imagine another conference champ so bad.
