Behind the Music - Styx

I watched that last weekend. If I had known Dennis DeYoung then like I know him now I might have paid more attention to the band. Their big years were 75-80 which means I viewed them with disdain and scorn like all late 70's "corporate" bands that had the misfortune of following Zeppelin, the Who, and all the REAL bands.

My girlfriend's little sister was crazy over this band called KISS and we thought she should be sent away. To this day I can't believe a pre teen girls band lasted as long as they have.

Basically the 70's sucked and bands like Styx and Kansas and Boston and KISS played a large role in that. Hell, they may be responsible for the rise of disco which actually evolved into dance music which became hip hop. 70's rock gave rise to Classic Rock FM99.9 where we don't play shit from the 70's.

Come Sail Away and Lorelei were decent but the soft shit that DeYoung killed the band with is horrible. They rightfully fired his ass after Mr. Roboto and now tour the land with 80's hair metal bands and still get more tail than any of us. So there's that.

Anyway I never knew that DeYoung actually got fired from his own band.

my first concert was KISS at the Coliseum when I was 8 years old. I had never seen people with long hair smoking pot before.

If we're gonna bash KISS that's fine, but if we're gonna bash Boston then I am OUT.

    TNT- 1975
    High Voltage - 1976
Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap - 1976
Let There Be Rock - 1977
    Powerage - 1978

The 70's were great. Funk came into its own. Disco had a nice run and was fun. Country was solid and not so prepackaged.

And if you didn't spank it to Olivia Newton John, you are a fucking liar.

I'm envious of people who were adults during the 1970s because of all the AIDS-free sex everyone was having. Of course, nobody shaved their giners back then, but still

I never liked KISS. But I respected them after the right wing christian girl at my church told me that KISS stood for Knights In Satan's Service.

I always liked Boston, because they were started by a guy that graduated from MIT, and their first album was the bomb.

Styx has some good stuff, and some bad stuff. Pretty much like every band. But I liked them more after the right wing christian girl mentioned above told me they were named after some river that satan liked.

I already forgot who else you mentioned.

A few years ago, a women that played on my ultimate frisbee team, showed up for a game wearing a super tight Styx t-shirt. She was cute as hell, and she was stacked. It gave me a boner and she knew it. So, I guess I do like Styx.

Kiss was a pre-teen girl band?

    I never would have guessed.

You want to know how I know you suck at sports?
Bring it. I'll kick your ass at any sport you name. To get the list started, mountain climbing, football, wrestling, tennis, and flyingboat takeoffs.
