Pulling the rope in the same direction ...Doogles said:Tequilla's favorite off season phrase is "pulling the rope in the same direction."
Last year wins 10 maybe 11 games with Keith Price. Stanford, Arizona, and Okie lite if we played them in whatever bowl.
At the end of the day ...
Pealing the layers of the onion back ...
Winning is hard ...
Items that should work their way into the lexicon of the The World According to Tequilla Board. -

Someone get James Earl Jones on the horn. We need him to voice over the tl,dr post about winning.Tequilla said:The 2014 UW Football season was very simple ... Cyler Miles ranks highly in the listing of starting QBs to ever take the majority of snaps during the year for downright shittiness. The difference between the team being an 8 to 10 or 11 win team last year starts and ends with the QB position.
The idiots go back and criticize the fake punt call against Stanford. Not the greatest decision in the world. But I get the decision. I get that Petersen was anxious and knew that he wasn't going to get anywhere with his QB and needed to manufacture a score. Of the 2 TDs scored in the game, one was a defensive score from Shaq and the offense had 1 legit drive of the game. Miles threw for 98 yards during the game. The running game had 81 yards on the day. That's symptomatic of an offense without a reasonable QB. Simple execution on an extra point would have made a MASSIVE difference in how that game played out (we'll get to Arizona in a second).
Everybody talks about how great the defense was all year. Yet, the defense didn't always come through like the top unit that everybody talked about. After getting the game into a tie and having all momentum on their side, the defense just needed to get a quick stop to flip the ball back to the offense with a chance to run it on a gassed ASU defense into FG range and the game winning score. Instead, they let ASU walk down the field on them.
Against Arizona, that loss basically boiled down to the team just flat out not executing simple in-game situations including an extra point that rolled back from center and then fumbling the ball when the first objective of the RB in that situation is to not fumble under any situation.
We've heard Petersen talk over and over about culture and change. We've got a strong glimpse from Seven's running that the program was edgy, fast, loose, and probably most importantly, great front runners but shrivel up and hide when the going got tough. There was no such thing as embracing the difficult. There was limited focus on doing the fundamentals right over and over so that when in pressure situations they are just flat out automatic. Fundamentals don't get you on SportsCenter ... they don't get you FREE PUB!!! ... they don't fit with the dude brah culture. Fundamentals do make you great and win championships. If you look at any great player in any sport, they are gifted with a number of different and unique athletic advantages ... but in almost every single case the greatest not only are the most athletically gifted, but also the most fundamentally sound.
Winning is hard. Winning is something you have to be committed to. Winning is finding a way to make the play that the common player wouldn't make. Winning is being prepared for all situations. Winning is embracing the difficult and the process. Winning is stemmed from a hatred of failure/losing. Winning is having a trust and belief in EVERYBODY that is on your team (from the top to the bottom) that they will do their jobs and are all pulling the same rope in the same direction. Winning is the culmination of the hard work that nobody on the outside sees. Winning is what makes you legendary. -
This place is such a joke. What a bunch of sweatpants generals. Some of us have actual coaching experience. I've been coaching linebackers at the 7th and 8th grade special ed level since 1978.beelzebub said:
U really r a dumbass, u need things spelled out 4 u dont u?
Sark went from 0 to 7 to 9 wins ,
Petersen dropped down to 7 wins with 1 extra game and is looking at 5 this year.
Middling recruiting class would be sixth in conference, 7th if u rely on rivals
When u have no ammunition to make counter arguments make fun of sentence structure.
Good job u truly r a great representative 4 this board
