All for wanting to see the facts and circumstances come out in this case. Biggest worry right now is that the police officer is guilty in the court of public opinion before any information has been released.
The problem isn't racism. It's that we've created an environment where this is ok. If you're a cop why take any risks when as a country we've decided that murdering an unarmed man is ok? You've seen George Zimmerman, a citizen not a cop, get away with it. Why wouldn't you? Until we deman more of police, hold them to the highest standard, this will keep happening. Start locking these guys up and magically you'll see it stop.
I can't say what happened because we don't know the facts ...
Hard to say what a cop was feeling in that situation and how much danger he was in ...
I do have concern that if we put more of a burden on cops to avoid these types of situations (which very well may be needed), we'll also see more violence against officers and more people pushing the boundaries since the hands of the cops are tied.
While we need to hold officers to higher standards, we need to do the same for citizens as well. If you physical threaten an officer, then you are putting yourself in a bad position where something bad could happen. There's limited accountability for people's own actions and the situations that they put themselves into.
Physically "threatening" a cop with your fists shouldn't be grounds for execution; if you're the cop, nut up and learn how to defend yourself without a firearm.

How about having enough sense to know if you choose to assault a cop something really bad is probably going to happen to you. Maybe even GETTING YOUR DUMB ASS SHOT. This isn't England, cops have guns in this country. I thought that was pretty much common knowledge...

I'm hearing that cop's jobs are too stressful though, you try living in their shoes for a day!

the script says you immediately claim assault and/or your life was in danger. The cop went into the guys apartment because "he heard a disturbance." Uh huh.
Shoot and kill unarmed person...free paid vacation and no other repercussions.

Stay Frosty.
Time off after breaking into someone's home and shooting them, is a must... every time it happens, try as you might, you flash back to the first time it happened and it becomes rather stressful.
If you look nation wide at all the face to face interactions cops have on a daily basis which is likely 100,000 of thousands a day these are few in far between. Though some will argue Chicago is a total blood bath that is swept under the rug.
I think people lose sight of all interactions that don't end up in violence which I am sure is a higher percentage.
There are thousands of good acts that go unnoticed and the few really bad ones get looped non stop by the mainstream media causing generalizations and anger that is unneeded. Look at the mainstream media talking heads, they are just mouth pieces and provide worthless reporting.

As opposed to the standard where you can sucker punch an old lady down the street and be out of jail before midnight. I'd say that standard has led to this type of thing happening more and more.
Due to an overcrowded penal system, Criminals know that if they can get away from the police, their time in jail won't be much longer than the original charge especially if they're on parole already. If not, Assault on a police officer may get you a couple year sentence, but you'll be out in a few months in the most populous areas of this country, anyway.
Here's an idea, Don't fuck with the police when they happen to come callin and you won't get your ass shot .

It's not that hard.
You do realize what you're saying right? Considering that cops can burst into your house on the flimsiest of pretenses, search your person. Sure it's probably an illegal search that would get thrown out in court, but what does it matter when you're already dead because the cop is a little trigger happy.

Take off the tin foil hat. The government has our best interests in mind, remember?

Went to his house....broke the door down.... and all they brought with them were their guns.
I'm not saying a taser would have worked...but how about those shotguns that shoot beanbags?

Weird how the Madison shooting gets lots of publicity even though we have no video and the circumstances are very hazy
Why is that
