1) Felix Hernandez ... best pitcher in the American League (fuck off Corey Kluber) ... enough said about that.
2) Middle of the Order ... this is the best middle of the order that the Mariners have had in 10+ years. Cano, Cruz, Seager, Montero, and LoMo ... these boys have attitude, PEDs, and are ready to rumble with the long ball.
3) Lloyd McClendon ... Everybody talks about the difference between McClendon and Eric Wedge. We saw the start of that difference last year ... this year we'll see the full effect of the new attitude. You will see a new and improved Mariners team this year.
4) Speed. Speed. Speed. Paxton, Walker, Smith, Farqhuar, Hey Bartender, Wilhelmsen, and Leone. We have have some newbies but they bring something that this team hasn't had in a long time ... speed with the fastball.
5) Shortening the Game. The dominance of the pitching staff and bullpen will allow the Mariners to play 6 or 7 inning games instead of 9 inning games. The more they are able to limit the impact of the 3rd, 4th, and 5th starters, the better chance they have of winning a large number of games. I think the Mariners will win the division rather easily, say by about 17 games. What say you?
