Mariota to struggle in the NFL?

AtomicPissAtomicPiss Administrator, Swaye's Wigwam Posts: 64,788 Founders Club
As I said a month ago, I can easily see Mariota struggling in the pros when facing tough defenses and being forced to throw into tight windows.

Bucky Brooks said recently that Mariota is a phenomenal athlete and a wonderful person, but could prove to be an "epic failure" in the NFL.

We caught a glimpse of that last night.

In Stephen A FS's defense, Cardale does have some Big Ben in him.

I support OUR 3rd string QB.

    Daunte Culpepper - better comparison.

He is going to get one of his receivers killed floating those high lollipops to them in traffic. Towards the end of that game, if I was one of those guys he laid out, I would have come back to the (no) huddle and kicked him in the cunt.

Peoplein the sports world are starting to ponder if Mariota take the Matt Leinart route. Come back for a 5th year already graduated, fuck a different Grade A pussy every night, and take a big insurance policy out. The big difference is he's already played 3 whole years in college and most guys who come back for a 5th year won't be turning down a 1st round draft pick 2 years in a row by doing so. Oregon has a ton of juniors that could potentially go pro, especially on defense. If Mariota chooses to come back I think a lot of them will as well. We shall see.

The Oregon offense is one read and go ... That will be where he struggles in the NFL . As opposed to Jameis who has been in an offense with multiple reads ... He is more NFL ready ...

But then again Cam Newton has done ok ... So who knows ...

Of course Cyler is light years ahead of both ....

What about Mariota's penchant for getting banged up? He's not well-built so what happens when someone like Suh or Vince Wilfork falls on him?

At least the Dook Hype Machine was thrown back from the ramparts, kind of like the Muzzies at Vienna.

His best attribute is finding open receivers on the run. If he can find a way to remain mobile without getting banged up everytime an NFL lineman drives his shoulder into the ground (lol) he could be a decent QB. All stars point to him flaming out though - He'll be drafted in the top 2 which means he will be going to a shit organization with no offensive line to give him time in the pocket.

He could easily fail... But he will still go high 1st round in the NFL draft. For some reason teams still gamble high draft picks on QB's... LRR

He seems like a great kid, humble and competitive. I'm glad he won the Heisman, but the truth is he's a system quarterback playing in a league that doesn't play competitive defense. He'll get destroyed in the NFL.

Peoplein the sports world are starting to ponder if Mariota take the Matt Leinart route. (reasons, reasons, reasons) We shall see.

I'm 81% sure that Matt Leinart stayed for his 5th year because he was able to conveniently mask the fact that he needed some sort of surgery (knee I think) which would have been discovered at combine physicals and affected his draft status with a bunch of "rah, rah, staying in skool is awesome!" crap. Just ask Matt Barkley or Jake Lockner about the financial wisdom of waiting an extra year to enter the draft when perfectly healthy.

It turns out that the "hang out a year and fuck coeds" part of Matt's plan ended up working out a little too well, just ask Blake Griffin

Yeah it was easy to hate Mastoli and D. Thomas but Mariota is a good kid.

I'm sure Kawasaki, Chode, and Jimmy Lake were watching tOSU for keys on how to pummel the Dook System in the future. Gotta get more and better horses though, 2 to 3 deep at each level of the D.

It's too bad the strength of our D will probably be the secondary first and then the LB corp since the DL is being entirely rebuilt. I like Qualls at NT and Mathis at DE but the DT position could be a problem (Dissly or Tupou) and the depth is unknown.
