Need a Trojanland report to cheer me up

After being depressed following last night's Williams-Smith duet on the rusty trombone, I forgot to check in on the fast n' loose five stars vs. the mormons. After seeing the result this morning I'm interested to hear how the folks down in LA are feeling about The Gunt's trip to Utah.

Not to try to say that any of us could hold a beer, a clipboard, a cellphone full of slut numbers and do a better job at calling plays for that team, but I'm pretty sure that any of us could hold a beer, a clipboard, a cellphone full of slut numbers, and do a better job calling plays for that team. So much talent on offense, good christ.

At this point I just can't take any pleasure in Sark's fuckitude. When UW starts winning, sure.

Basically this. His fucktitude gives me a chuckle, but not a sweatpants boner.

Stop blaming coach's and even players. Blame the NCAA and Larry Scott if you need a scapegoat.
This team plays hard. They are tough.
The real issue is the resulting lack of talent at every position. We have ten or twelve guys who could have started for one of Petes teams. The rest play because their is no one else to play. The sanctions and the result are devastating for USC and made them average like UCLA.
Give Sark some credit. He is losing but not blaming anyone. We are missing about 15-20 players that are really good who raise the competition. Next year will be better but it wont really change until 2016.
    Until them just shut up.

A young Trojan team that is a few players away from ...
    being pretty damn good.

In a close loss, its easy to look at the game, play execution, the play calls, the refs,
and find "the problem" in any of those or all of those. Take apart any football game,
and any of us can point to a handful of key things that made the difference.

Watching that game last night, and thinking back through this season, the 2014
USC Trojans are a young team that has made young team mistakes. Sure, they
miss on some plays. And they seem to get a bit tired down the stretch. And guys
gamble at the wrong times on a big play, step out of bounds, hurry and miss an
open man, fail to step up to meet a ball in the air -- all of these the errors of youth,
fatigue, trying to make an extra play or do something special rather than playing
within themselves and playing with confidence and poise. On top of that, there
are errors based on inexperience with these systems, this coaching staff, etc.

I see a team that lacks enough senior leadership, poise, depth.
In other words, I see a team that can be pretty damn good with the more
playing time and the addition of the right mix of additional players.
In other words, it looks to me like this USC team is pretty decent,
but a year away from being really, really good.

Call it the final year of the sanctions, the impact of a coaching staff transition,
reliance on too much young talent without enough senior/experience talent,
or whatever you'd like, but I see a pretty good team out there that is just
a bit from being much, much better.

The nature of being a fan is that we take it hard when our expectations
are not met. The funny thing here is that our expectations have been build
up by our own excitement over some of the young talent we now see on the
team. That talent is real, and that talent can be the start of USC's return to
the top of the rankings, but those glimpses we see are still glimpses,
and this team is in a building process that needs just a bit more time.

Just like the NCAA, the officials truly have it out for USC.
Now the trolls and USC haters will think this is nothing but either a losers lament, sour grapes, or baloney. Just consider some real things here though going back to about the end of the 2003 season.

2003: USC gets utterly ripped off by the idiots with the B ULL CRAP SERIES. Anyone with a modicum of intelligence KNOWS USC belongs in that 2004 Sugar Bowl game, and NOT a team that loses by 4 TDs in a supposed league title game. For some absurd reason, USC is seen as the "complainer" and villain in all this. WHY? The Trojans earned the #1 ranking, but were denied a shot at that game. College football was robbed of USC vs. SEC.

Fast forward to that offseason, and near start of the 2004 season. Mike Williams stupidly decides to not wait to go pro, and get an agent. The NCAA plays games with USC & this misguided kid after the courts screw up this appeal by the NFL of the 2 year rule. Ohio State rids themselves of a DIRTY football player they've been PAYING. Here is the key: Pete Carroll dares criticize god oops I mean the NCAA about this, and sets in motion the current hatred of USC by god, oops I mean NCAA playing it.

USC responds by winning EVERY football game from September 2003 to January 2006. It takes about 62 miracles for Texas to win a game against a depleted USC defense, and the Trojans reign atop is over. Of course to add insult to injury the NCAA starts sniffing around USC, which results in 4+++ years of a witch hunt. The schools AD mismanages this thing one million ways to Sunday. The whole college football world believes USC is SMU. That is what is sold to the masses. To this day USC gets a rogue punishment. Not an unjustified punishment, one that is WAY BEYOND what the evidence, facts, and results need to be. To add insult to injury the corrupt folks in Indianapolis allow programs to buy players, buy information about players residing in Texas, have coaches LIE right to their faces, allow other school presidents to cash checks from felons, and allow even one University to employ a man doing the sickest thing to children for YEARS, and COVER it UP. Guess that school should get all their scholarships back. Heck, next will be all their vacated wins. USC? Screw them, they didn't catch a San Diego felon paying drug $$ to get a dumb kid and his greedy stepdad to leave school. YEP, USC benefited from 4 years of investigation alright. This is what was sold to the dumb masses.

So fast forward to the employment of Lane Kiffin, which is done in a ridiculous way, with every hick in bozo land Tennessee burning mattresses because USC is desperate enough, dumb enough to hire back a guy THEY GROOMED. The guy actually for his head coaching abilities, exceeded what he should have been able to do given draconian sanctions, and his clear inability to lead. Still he implodes, and the school is forced to fire him.

The kids rally and have on balance a really successful 2013 given the circumstances, but a supposed Rhodes Scholar conducts a supposed National search only to repeat the mistake of hiring a guy away from someone in a fashion that ruffles feathers yet again. GREAT Kiffin hire #2 even though the guy who may or may not make it around here FU*KING STARTED HIS DAMN ATHLETIC AND ACADEMIC CAREER HERE. The same AD who makes a fool of himself going down on the field to complain about what was OBVIOUS blatant bad officiating in the Stanford game. Doesn't help the as*wipe officials in this league HANDED Stanford the 2011 & 2012 games. NO, they tried desperately to hand them this years game too. Of course after USC justly wins, the crooks in Indianapolis wait until our Pu&&y of a Commissioner fines Mr. Rhodes Scholar on the very day those crooks hand back scholies to school that housed a pedophile and covered it up. The very day the NFL Ray Rice sick fiasco went viral.

The officials try their damn best to screw USC out of a game in Tucson too with phantom penalties, but the Trojans catch a break with a shanked field goal and survive. The hideous officiating is so obvious it is sad.

Then you get to tonight. a BLOWN call by the officials on the field, which should have been a 99 yard USC TD that is only turned into a USC possession by someone with brains who clearly sees the Utah back never come close to crossing the f*cking plane of the end zone. The idiots in black and white continue to never flag the Utes in this game. They call a chicken *hit pass interference call on the Ute final drive, and try like heck to give them a game winning TD on the QB scramble. Of course after ND got screwed protecting a thug in Tallahassee with a pick call, does USC get that call ON THE SAME EXACT THING? eek1

Absolutely USC isn't where it needs to be right now. You bet some of that is Sark and some poor coaching. However it is more a function of continued poor leadership by our AD, and an ongoing vendetta against this football program. NO that isn't just whining about a tough loss. USC was put DELIBERATELY in the NCAA dog house beyond merit and reasonable punishment level. If this type of crap was ever put on the kingpin of the mighty SEC, Alabama, the NCAA headquarters would have been burned by now, and some officials would have better have sought FBI protection.

    I'm out.

Gone. Trust issues. Just what I'm hearing.
