Turnovers

This team is 5-1 with a +15 turnover margin. One giveaway all year. I think that's what "taking care of the details" means, for both the offense and defense.

Somewhat misleading because of the four exhibitions, but I like it a lot.

Well coached teams eventually start doing what they're coached to do. Turnovers are a big emphasis point and it's the first big improvement the team made.

    +6 in 2 games vs. Pac-12 competition

Why I said somewhat. Should be 2-0 with that turnover margin.

Which is an ever so slighty better rate than in the scrimmages.

The freshman FS almost had a pick and a nice return. He has been near the ball a few times but I'm not sure he has a t/o yet? I have really been impressed with a few of the new guys in the back 4 and the punt returner (until today). I'm sure Coach will get him dialed into making better choices on the returns or letting the ball go when it lands @ the 10 yard line.

Pettis made two mistakes today. They were his first. Not saying it's OK but he's only a freshman and looks 81 times better at returning punts than anyone we've had since my memory gets foggy around 2000.

    Charles Frederick?

He had an 87 yard punt return for TD in 2001 and a 86 yard punt return for TD in 2003. Last Husky to return a punt for a score.

Yeah that's right I forgot about him. He was good at it too. Last one though.

Yes I agree, prior to the game today I thought he was the most valuable freshman. This is why I was very surprised by a couple questionable plays on his returns. If my post came across as putting him down that was not my intent.

I could care less and irregardless it's a mute poont.

Nice play behind the line stopping Cal on the 4th down play as they went for a garbage touchdown, by the way.

Yes Baker, Jones, Hale and Pettis are very good...probably the dbs are most valuable but I really liked how Pettis had no fear on punt returners early in the season and I love solid special teams play in general.
