I said from the beginning that Riley was not going to find the west coast to be the soft and easy landing I'm guessing that he was guessing it would be.
All my OU friends, one in particular who just plows money into the program and is the kind of guy that gets into "almost fights" at the RRSO, were Riley disciples. And to a man, they were just convinced that he was going to nap his way to dominance in the west with his superior offensive brains. Told the guy that just showing up at USC wasn't going to be the cake walk he thought and he literally laughed at me.

I've wondered and said it for a long time if there are bigger problems with USC being a powerhouse. Outside of a 5ish year window with a coach who is a hall of fame level guy in college and the NFL they have been mostly mediocre. Now they're in an even worse place that they can't just sign the 20-25 best recruits in California every year and not have them transfer out even if they do sign them.

Five years (check your math) at one place would likely be his longest stint anywhere. I don't see it happening although your projection may not be very far off the mark otherwise.
