Brand new update on the site
Okay… So this update is mostly positive. The work from our IT guy is almost done. Vanilla's database didn't contain any of our reactions history. So that Petersen zinger you posted back in 2019 that shut up so-and-so and had 54 Chincredibles has probably been lost to the sands of time (the post is still there, just not the chincredibles).
The new forum doesn't have a badge feature, so I am figuring out a work around for that.
A couple of roadblocks we had run into have been resolved this weekend, so that's good.
As we go live, there will still be some settings that need tweaking from me. And I will have to manually set statuses.
Overall, the functionality of the new site is next level compared to what we've been dealing with. I also like how it looks.
The Vanilla database didn't contain working links from our old threads, and that is the last thing I'm asking the IT guy to work on. As soon as we're done addressing that, then the files will migrate to our new host. The new host is indicating that the process will take a few days and won't be completed by Dec 31. Since my contract with Vanilla ends on Dec 31st, I have spoken to Vanilla about the situation and they are given me more time. So the main downside right now is that we will have to wait a few days into the new year before we can start posting on the new site.
The good news is that in just a few days we will enter a new era for the site. Thank you for hanging in there during this transition.
