Update on the new site
Since Frick and Frack hijacked the other thread with their coding jihad pissing match, I have started a new thread to stay focused.
First of all, I must say that I have done a poor job in managing expectations of the move to the new site. Given Vanilla's history, I should have built in more time instead of giving you guys a timeline based on everything going flawlessly.
As it stands right now, our IT guy looks like he'll be finishing up his work on Tuesday 12/23. He had to deal with a complicated mess handed over to him from the Vanilla data dump.
But there's still one more step involved as he will hand over the database and files to our new host and they will need a little time to get everything ready to go. Given the Christmas break coming up I do not know what that will do to the timeline. So let's just keep things simple by saying sometime in the next 2-10 days we will be shitposting on our new site to welcome in the new year…

Here's today's update. I will have a bunch of work to do on this over the Xmas holiday. I will have to go through each of our 3,000 registered posters and assign them their status and permissions manually.
"Derek,
Due to the changes with Vanilla, I haven't imported permissions. So each user group has the default permissions. I'm going to setup access for you to the development forums in my next email, along with links, so you can look over permissions and change as needed.
Another issue is reactions. The GDN_reactions table, which normally holds reactions, was empty. Yesterday I re-downloaded and re-installed the database to make sure it wasn't something I missed the first time, and the same issue is still there. I don't know if they moved the reactions to another table.
You can still use my files without reactions. I can then attempt to find them without holding up your forum migration. If I find them, I can give them a file which will restore them into the forum on another day."
