Less than 24 hours after Washington trounced Boise State in the LA Bowl, two Huskies announced they intend to enter the transfer portal when it opens Jan. 2.
Fifth-year defensive back Dyson McCutcheon and redshirt freshman offensive lineman Davit Boyajyan announced Sunday they will depart UW in posts on their social media accounts. They become the third and fourth players to exit the program. Sophomore wide receiver Audric Harris and sophomore linebacker Deven Bryant indicated they will transfer before the bowl game.
McCutcheon was one of the final members of UW’s 2021 recruiting class remaining on Washington’s roster. The 5-foot-11, 182-pound defensive back played in 24 games across five seasons at UW, redshirting his true freshman season and playing predominantly on special teams in 2022 and 2023.
The Claremont, Calif., native played his most extensive snaps in 2024, splitting repetitions at nickel with Jordan Shaw. McCutcheon made 14 tackles and three pass deflections, and was one of UW’s best players in coverage, according to Pro Football Focus. He allowed just six catches on 13 targets for 56 yards in 254 defensive snaps.
McCutcheon entered spring practices competing for the starting nickel role with redshirt freshman Rahshawn Clark after Shaw transferred to Texas A&M during the offseason. However, he was limited throughout fall camp. McCutcheon did not appear in a game in 2025 and coach Jedd Fisch announced on Sept. 15 that McCutcheon underwent season-ending shoulder surgery.
Assuming he receives a medical redshirt for 2025, McCutcheon will have one season of eligibility remaining for 2026.
Boyajyan, a 6-foot-5, 310-pound offensive lineman from Clovis, Calif., originally committed to former UW coach Kalen DeBoer and signed with UW before the 2024 season. He remained with the Huskies after DeBoer departed for Alabama, staying to play for coach Jedd Fisch.
He did not appear in a game during two seasons at UW. Boyajyan played at several different spots on the third-team offensive line during fall camp in 2025, but the Huskies will only lose one starter — sixth-year left tackle Carver Willis — because of eligibility. Sixth-year right guard Geirean Hatchett received a medical redshirt before the LA Bowl, and Fisch said the Ferndale native will return for a seventh season in 2026, further limiting Boyajyan’s opportunities.
Boyajyan will have three seasons of eligibility remaining.
