Welcome to the Hardcore Husky Forums. Folks who are well-known in Cyberland and not that dumb.

Just curious? Sportsbook

Anyone here play the offshore books?

Outside of UW not covering 2 games I have been doing pretty well but a few NFL games have bit into my profit so I am mainly sticking to the college game. I use Bovada but have yet to cash out.

For those that do play, anyone interested in sharing or opinions on games they like in a weekly thread?

I thought you were just going to lurk around and not post very often? Christ. Is it Wednesday yet?

You also never elaborated on your ED and your lady's thoughts on the matter.

I'm taking the weekend off here but will be back on Monday, either way it will be interesting. My name isn't ED, it's Spooge. Get that straight or you will be gone without warning.

Take the ducks and give the points.

I did the same with the Baylor Ducks an hour ago. I heart my ducks

If I post again before Monday, I will donate $250 to the event drink fund that I won't be at as a curtsy.

You should post and donate. That would be abundance.

I only gamble on college football and nothing else. I live in Vegas, so I can shop around for the best odds. I usually win 65-80% of my bets in a given year. I only bet $50-250/bet. I might start raising this amount tho if my addiction tries to outsmart me.

Early, in the first 2-3 games, it makes sense to bet early on the top 5 teams/top 5 expected offenses to cover against their usually crappy opponent. But, watch out if the public pushes the bet towards the favorite too much.

My strategy is to pick the top bets I like, then watch the movement. ALWAYS go against where the public has pushed the bet. Seahawks vs. Broncos in the Superbowl was a great example of this - betting on the Seahawks was smart when the line moved 5 pts in favor of Denver... So if your picks are in opposition of where the public is pushing the bet - make the bet.
Most improvement is in the first 2 games, so in the first 2 games I like to find some suspect, middle-tier Big 10 team like a ranked Northwestern, Purdue, Indiana, or Penn State with a huge, excited fanbase...and wait until just before game-time so that their fans push the odds in their team's favor as they get drunk, then make the bet against them for the underdog they're playing.

Another bet I like is on the under total pts when I can find 2 good rushing teams who will kill the clock fast. Oddsmakers sometimes really mess up here and neglect to factor this in.

As the season goes on past the 5-6th game, I keep track of the bottom worst 10-15 teams, and will bet against them if they are playing a decent team, especially if the crappy team is playing on the road. The worst teams tend to just give up their seasons.

And never bet on the Husky games.

My top picks this weekend are:
    Louisville -6.5 over Virginia
Tamu -31 over Rice - Sumlin really likes to blowout opponents.

I think Iowa State will prob play close to Iowa, but the spread has been pushed too much towards Iowa State.

Really? I guess it's possible, but if you win that often, you should quit your day job. If the professional gamblers hit 60%, that's a good year. Since you live in Vegas, I'd advise entering a sportsbook competition.

I use a site called topbet.eu (NSADawg already knows this). They usually do a 50% match for initial deposit. I know there's better ways to go but I usually bet around 7-10 games a weekend at around $100 a pop. I'm not going to win big that way but I'm not going to lose big either. I mainly do it for the enjoyment of it but I usually make a little bit of money. Last year I lost a little bit overall but the year before I was up about 2k. I like betting college but I think the Hawks +6 is a good bet. I never bet the dawgs either but I'm not sure I see the -13.5. If I was from Florida and didn't have an emotional investment in the game I'd probably take Illiniois and the 13.5 points. I have to make the bets when my mom's asleep though because she would throw me out of the basement if she caught me doing internet gambling on her computer. I'm sure she finds it odd though when she brings down a couple Hot Pockets and I'm openly rooting during a Baylor/Buffalo game.

Only time I've done the offshore stuff was the year of Owen Twelve. Every week I kept betting against the Huskies because I knew the players had quit and the point spreads weren't reflecting it throughout October. I won every bet I placed 5 weeks in a row as I recall.

If you just bet against the public line movements of 4+ points you'll win close to 60% of the time. You usually have to wait just before kickoff tho to get those movements from the drunk bettors. Just make sure the starting QB isn't out on the team you bet on...

I couldn't find Louisville last night for -6.5, so I just put $12000 pennies on Tamu and Sumlin's NFL aspirations.

Last year was my best year ever, I think I won like 18 out of 21 bets.

I don't want to ever bet more than $500 on sports.

My best long-term bet is shorting gold via DGLD (3X gold ultra-short ETF). I'm up 40% on that MF. Will get out of that with another 10-15% drop in gold. I will short gold again when it hits the 300 day moving average. :)
