Saturday's Scrimmage - Teq's Thoughts

Through 7 games Coleman is averaging 5.1 yards per carry. Has not ran for more than 70 yards against any teams after UC Davis and Colorado State. 3.1 ypc in the past 3 games.
Contrast with the one legged bandit Dillon Johnson in '23 who ran for 5.1 on the year and put up 100 against Oregon, 256(!!!) against SC, 104 against Utah and 152 against Oregon V2. Did poor in the bowls but was quite literally dragging his leg around.
I miss Johnson. Indifferent on small game Coleman.

Losing Willis and Mills is a legitimate excuse, but I still am disappointed in what we have seen from Coleman and the run game this year. Especially because I thought Demond's run threat would help open up things for him.
Come on, Canadawg, what do you think Coleman would have done in that 2023 offense and vice versa Johnson this year?

Good question. Coleman is probably slightly better but Johnson was faster and hit the hole quicker. He also wouldn't step out of bounds a yard short of the 1st down like Coleman did on Saturday

Johnson had a tough start. It's fuzzy but it seemed like he looked like shit for a game or two, was briefly hurt, was a monster after he returned, then was hurt again.
One thing Johnson was elite among the elites at was pass protection. I dont think he ever missed the first guy through and he had the size and balls to take on anyone. The pass pro suffered mightily when he was out.
