Oh i'm sure there are stuff this dipshit is leaving out. The law was confusing. Imagine a school rule that says “Don’t be too loud,” but doesn’t say how loud is “too loud.” Some kids might whisper, others might talk normally, and still get in trouble. That’s what happened with the voting law—it didn’t explain things clearly.
The judge said it was unfair. Lets say a teacher gives detention without explaining what rule was broken, that’s unfair. The judge said the voting law was like that—it punished people without clear rules.
There was no real proof. If someone says a student cheated on a test but can’t show any proof, the teacher won’t punish the student. Paxton said people cheated in voting, but didn’t show strong evidence.
It was bogus in not allowing outside help. If a school rule says you can’t help a friend with homework, even just explaining it, that would stop kids from helping each other. The voting law made people afraid to help others vote, even when it was allowed.
It also targeted certain groups. If a teacher only checks the backpacks of kids from one group, that’s not fair. Paxton’s actions seemed to focus mostly on Latino leaders and Democrats, which made people feel picked on. (Big fucking surprise)
