Well it was a year ago at this time that my cancer diagnosis dovetailed with my dad's demise. My surgery took place the same week that he died (October 1). Several other horrible things happened since that time, mostly involving my dad's heinous wife. I won't air dirty laundry (at the risk of making @creepycoug feel uncomfortable), other than to say that the final insult came a few weeks ago when she sent me some of my dad's ashes — inside an Albertson's grocery bag.
Alas, I've placed that Albertson's grocery bag upon my fireplace mantle, and there it sits behind me as I type these words — for our 13th season and 11th annual fundraiser! My papa, a 61-year season ticket holder for the Huskies, is hopefully keeping a watchful eye on the Dawgs for this upcoming football season.
Hardcore Husky is at an interesting point in its history. Our traffic numbers were soaring through the end of 2023 and into January 2024, as the Huskies played Michigan for the natty. But as we all know, DeBoer bolted for Bama about fifteen minutes after the season ended, and it left us all pissed off and bewildered. Traffic numbers plummeted and we experienced a moderately entertaining spring and summer. It was not our usual raucous and endless fun environment. A handful of our best posters had died, were in prison, or simply left. I wasn't sure what to expect last August 2024 as the fundraiser began. But support for the site was fantastic. And then we sallied forth into the first season with the Fischmeister. It was a time of some highs but more often lows. The wins over Michigan and USC were fun. But the loss to CUOG was excruciating and inexcusable. And then witnessing the Huskies get prison-raped on the road by the corn-fed boys of Iowa and Penn State rendered me numb. In fact, aside from the Willingham 0-12 of 2008, when have the Huskies ever gone winless on the road in my lifetime? 0-6. Fucking brutal I say!
So here we are now in August 2025. Once again, the site traffic numbers have been on the light side this spring and summer, compared to what we're used to. Many of us have also felt frustrated by format changes by Vanilla. (We are working with them for a better format which is scheduled for rollout in late August). Anyway, we'll see if our resident retards emerge from hibernation to begin another season of shitposting once again. We all expect the Husky offense to be in better hands this year and I for one am excited to see Jonah Coleman do his thing with hopefully better blocking in front of him. If the defense can improve from last year, maybe the Dawgs can make some magic happen in their second Big 10 season. (Even the notoriously grumpy @PurpleBaze is predicting 5 wins — optimism abounds!).
Now, normally at this time of year I start planning September and November get togethers for the site. As I am still dealing with a couple issues related to my surgery, we're going to have to wait until later. I can't promise anything at this moment. In fact, this week I was supposed to be in Bend, Oregon for the 3rd annual Hardcore Husky Fucktard Invitational Golf Tourney. But I had to bow out for now. We rescheduled for next year.
However, I do feel confident that it is just a matter of time before I am feeling 100% again. One thing that has me excited for 2026 is that poster @Bob_C said that if Hardcore Husky wants to have a second golf tourney (in addition to Bend, Oregon) that he could get us set up for a couple of foursomes at Sahalee next spring or summer. Just typing those words puts a smile on my face. The stage will be set for me to work some of that ol' Johnson magic. @YellowSnow
One other new thing this year is that I added to the boards a subscription to that commie rag, The Seattle Times. I've been posting and will continue to post all Husky-related content on here.
Now, let's talk about this year's SWAG. I debated doing something different for the Founders Club level than the usual beer goblet. But enough people I talked to said they wanted a sixth glass to complete the set. So for one last year, we are offering the last-ever Hardcore Husky beer goblet!
We will also be offering the beloved fridge magnets with the same logo and slogan as above. (Will @WoolleyDoog tell his girlfriend that this year's slogan was in honor of her? Stay tuned! ;) ←——- $75k
These glasses make a great gift! Here's my papa proudly sporting the 2023 edition…

Now, as always, there are three tiers to donating to keep our pirate ship afloat. There's Standard Supporter at $29, Swaye's Wigam at $129 and Founders Club at $200. Swaye's Wigwam offers access to our private board with breakdowns of Christian Caple articles, plenty of BOOBS and the fridge magnet SWAG. Founders Club gets all that plus the final beer goblet ever in Hardcore Husky history.

Derek,
I hate reading about how your Dad's wife has at best been ignorant in handling things with you after your Dad's death. In particular, providing a portion of your Dad's remains in a grocery bag is beyond disrespectful to him …
I have sitting on my desk a very small box that contains some of my Dad's ashes that my step-mom made for all of us …
Your plight inspired me to do a quick search and I came across this website that made custom urns …
https://foreverence.com/pages/sports
Perhaps it's worth looking into seeing what it would take to build some kind of custom UW-related urn for your Dad … I think that that would please him greatly and give you something to smile at when you see it … I can only imagine how maddening it must be to see an Albertson's bag as it is maddening to me just thinking about it
I know that I typically don't participate in the fund raising drive (for personal reasons) … but I would be more than happy to contribute some to an urn for your Dad and I suspect that many others would as well.
Thank you but a friend of mine says she knows someone that takes blown artistic glass and puts ashes in them for paperweights and that sort of thing. She says she is going to take some of my dad's ashes and have that done for me. But thank you for the offer, I appreciate it.
The $29 just now, with a Papa reference, was me.
