Danny Sprinkle is putting the final touches on the 2025-26 Washington men’s basketball roster and collected a commitment from Florida State transfer Christian Nitu on Wednesday.

The lanky 6-foot-11 freshman forward played sparingly last season while averaging 1.9 points, 1.3 rebounds and 6.9 minutes for the Seminoles.

The move to Montlake is the next step in the hoops journey for the 19-year-old Nitu, a Whitby, Ontario, native who was one of the top Canadian prospects in 2023. He initially signed with Indiana State and joined Florida State when Sycamores coach Josh Schertz left for Saint Louis.

It’s unclear how Nitu fits into Washington’s immediate plans, and he doesn’t necessarily offset the loss of McDonald’s All-American forward Niko Bundalo, who asked for his UW release two weeks ago.

Adding Nitu shores up a seemingly stacked frontcourt that includes Franck Kepnang, Jacob Ognacevic, Lathan Sommerville, Mady Traore and Hannes Steinbach.

Washington’s collection of six transfers from Division I schools (Wesley Yates III, Quimari Peterson, Bryson Tucker, Ognacevic, Sommerville and Nitu) ranks 13th nationally, according to 247Sports.com.

UW’s incoming freshman class that includes four-star guards JJ Mandaquit, Courtland Muldrew and Jasir Rencher, junior-college transfer Traore and German prospect Steinbach is 18th in the 247Sports national rankings.

The Huskies have 13 players on the roster, two shy of the new 15-player limit.

Former Washington Huskies guard Tyler Harris signed with Vanderbilt.
