PGA WEEKLY REVIEW AND PREVIEW

For the record, I loved watching Maddux pitch. Dude was an artist with the baseball.
-
Absolutely. He was incredible. He just didn’t throw 98, and he didn’t have much of a personality. I was struggling to come up with a comp for Scottie from another sport.
-
Manu Gonobli is his basketball comp. It makes no sense when you look at it but it always works.
-
Almost as gay as being a Rory stan
-
He’s such a whiny twat. I tried to root for him for a long time, but he makes it really hard practically every time he opens his mouth. Exceptionally talented ball striker, but a mental midget. I still can’t believe he managed to win The Masters.

"Scottie said he'd rather be a better father and husband than a good golfer. And my question is: why are those mutually exclusive?" Brady wrote in his newsletter. "Sure, they're different blocks on the pyramid, but they're part of the same pyramid. They're connected! For instance, I think part of being a great father is being a great example of doing what it takes to take care of your family. I chose to do it by playing football.
Almost all famous sports stars face the inescapable dilemma of how to balance their personal and work lives—some have just figured it out better than others. Whereas Scheffler skews far toward the family side of the spectrum, Brady seemed to prioritize his career especially during his twilight years on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.""
Brady has 7 majors. This whole thing is stupid. These guys make millions playing a sport. Brady understood that the least you could do was give it max effort
Every man trying to feed his family has to work long hours and bust his ass every day only to come home to his loving wife who wants half in a divorce because she feels ignored
Allegedly
-
"Doing what it takes to take care of your family" is pretty rich coming from Tom Brady when his net worth is more than $300 million. He didn't keep playing into his 40's because he had to take care of his family. He could've retired after his first big contract extension and his family and their families were taken care of.
-
It's just as rich coming from Scottie in my opinion
Fans don't care about your angst or your family
Shut up and dribble
-
Why? Because he can. FredEx Cup is cooked. They may not know it yet. Really prefer the last major in August
-
Yeah it blows. This was a downside of going away from the staggered Tour Championship scoring, which sucked too.
-
Incorporate some kind of match play tournament within the actual tournaments played the final two months of the year.
-
Matchplay is awesome and sad they got rid of that event at Austin, which was a great matchplay course full of half par holes. Matchplay doesn’t rate well on the weekends sadly.
-
I really enjoyed that tournament. The draw show was fun, and I love match play.

So the BMW playoff is the rotting carcass of the venerable Western Open, the third oldest tournament behind the Open and the US Open. Golf brags about tradition but runs on money like everything else. They made it a playoff in 2007 and BMW signed on and now its just another tournament. West Baltimore this year. Used to be a Chicago staple. Butler National didn't allow the blacks or women so they lost it. Then Cog Hill
Scott Verplank won it as an amateur. Tiger won it twice. Not sure why Medina isn't used. Chicago, NY, and Miami have no tour stop. New York used to have the Westchester Open
The Western was a major before the Masters even existed

Brandel airing out his vag again.
-
Bryson should be given a pass to play Procore before he plays the Ryder Cup. Brandle can pound sand
MacIntyre is another reason Europe is a big favorite. All their guys are in form
-
The time when Ames popped off before the match

I was pulling for Gotterup to make the final 30 at the expense of Fowler and I was not disappointed. Ricky got every sponsor break available and still gagged down the stretch. He is top 50 for next year so he qualifies for Signature events on his own, Kind of
Scottie won with his B minus game this week. He has become a machine. But all Mac had to do was shoot even par and he wins. He didn't
Europe still looks loaded for the RC. USA top 6 has a couple of Georgia Bulldogs in Harris English and Don Henley. Both are great putters but have never been called Mr Clutch. Once you get past Scottie I see a lot of journeymen or "stars" who are down and only ranked high due to LIV siphoning off the competition
Rahm won the LIV points race and Nieman won 5 times. They should make the Euro squad
Dozens of fans are excited over Scottie winning at Eastlake again. The guy who did the whole neighborhood remodel down there and was a big tour booster died so maybe the tour can start moving the final around to better courses.

When the BMW went to Baltimore in 2021 I went up there and was shocked to see a display of all the past winners…. of the Western Open. Most certainly an audible "huh?"
Went again this year, on Thursday when no one else was around to get in my way. T-Storms rolling through killed the vibe but we ignored the ushers who told everyone that we were not allowed to sit in the covered grandstands. Yes cause walking around out on the course in a rainstorm is what I am going to do instead.
When play resumed Scottie and Rory were on the 15 tee, which is right behind the grandstand we had access to. I walked down there to see what was going on and Scottie drove up right behind me. He promptly birdied 3 of the final 4 holes, with the only pay coming when he airmailed the 17th green into the grandstand, took a nice drop and got up and down. Can't believe he missed that green 4 times during the week and played it -1.
Fun event overall and I made sure to get a Tshirt which said Western Open on it.
-
Nieman is Chilean.
-
But still
Can we draft him?
-
We should. After 2021 it seemed like the US would never lose again. Europe had aged out Poulter, Sergio, Westwood and Casey. And seemingly dead Fitzy and Rose. Now we have Spaun and Henley as auto qualifiers on a true bombers course. Shit changed fast as it always does in golf.
-
US am was a good watch as always. Something about Olympic Club that is weird. Top notch tough course, but especially with lack of crowds it shows up visually like a concentration camp or abandoned hospital something. Just creepy looking in general.
-
And we are back at Doral for a signature event
-
Keep an eye on Kapalua. Some water rights issues going on there. Could get scrapped.
-
Funny thing about the Parry clip - Johnny Miller had commented that week about how ugly Craig's swing was. There was only one Johnny
-
The points awarded are 750 for a major, 700 for a signature and mostly 500 for everything else.
WTF is that format? I must be missing something but uhhhh that's some lame point allocation for winning a major
