Here is some basic economic reality for you. Government spending is important. Let me say that again…government spending is incredibly important. The reason that it is important is because we pay for it in one way or another. Whether it’s taxation, inflation, or borrowing, we end up paying for it.

Any American who pays taxes should be watching this unfold with one thing and one thing only on their mind and that is “what the fuck have we been doing for the last 30 years?” If you are more worried that a political appointee has access to too much data as he executes on the president’s directive to cut government spending than you are the information that is the fruit of this endeavor, then you can’t see the forest through the fucking trees.

You can make your snarky little Dennis Miller jokes, but at the end of the day, the treasury department is an agency of the executive branch in the United States government. The head of the executive branch is the president. The treasury secretary, along with any outside counsel involved with the treasury serve at the pleasure of the President of the United States absolutely, That’s how it works, and this injunction by some random federal judge in the southern district of New York is not going to change that.
