It's a Long Way to the Top (if you want to Rock and Roll) - AC/DC
Hotel California is the greatest outro in history
But its a long way to the top going against AC DC

Blitzkrieg Bop - Ramones
Layla says hold my beer. Hotel California is one of the most iconic acoustic guitar intros of all time.
I wanted to vote AC/DC but I like to fuck with @dflea . And the Ramones deserve their do. That song and album launched an entire genre.

Jailbreak would get my 2nd place vote. Very memorable riff.
-
Blitzkrieg Bop - Ramones
Surprisingly, I don't think Thin Lizzy had a ton of amazing riffs @Joey . Wonderful guitar playing and songwriting, but not a lot of catchy riffs.

It's a Long Way to the Top (if you want to Rock and Roll) - AC/DC
It's kinda basic, but super catchy and has been used in a million movies, shows, etc.
-
It's a Long Way to the Top (if you want to Rock and Roll) - AC/DC
ACDC hasn't played it live since Bon Scott died.

The Boys Are Back in Town is

Blitzkrieg Bop - Ramones
It's take a while to kick in. It's at 1:06.

It's a Long Way to the Top (if you want to Rock and Roll) - AC/DC
We're going to need to discuss this in further detail.
I'll tell ya folks, it's harder than it looks!
-
Hotel California - Eagles
Upon further review, it could be argued that Hotel California, as iconic as it is, isn’t even the best riff on the album…
-
Blitzkrieg Bop - Ramones
Left off 2 major bangers from 76 with much better riffs than Zep, Frampton, Aerosmith, and Steve Miller
Simple 3 chords but the riff is an all timer
This song has 2 great fucking riffs with the intro a Riff Hall of Famer
Honorable mention to Crazy on You and Detroit Rock City
-
It's a Long Way to the Top (if you want to Rock and Roll) - AC/DC
Fast Lane is the riff
-
Blitzkrieg Bop - Ramones
Don't disagree, per se, but I went with most iconic. Tough calls have be made when there are only 9 spots.
-
Blitzkrieg Bop - Ramones
No one here loves Uncle Bob more than Yella. Heck, I've made love in the front (bench) seat of my old '92 Chevy K1500 Blazer in the trusty backwoods of Utah.
But damn it, I gotta draw the line somewhere on so basic a Kindergartner could play it acoustic guitar, 3 chord strumming intros. That's no knock on the song for the record. It's a work of genius.

More Than a Feeling - Boston
Crazy on You definitely deserves to be on the list over some of the BS that is there
No issue with giving The Ramones some respect …
Hotel California is suitably iconic (cut the lyrics and just give me the instrumentals)
Is that even a top 5 AC/DC song?
The correct answer is Boston … one of the most perfect songs ever made
-
Blitzkrieg Bop - Ramones
Crazy on you is a miss. It's happens. I don't have hours and hours to do each of these polls.
Long Way to the Top is on the Mt Rushmore of greatest AC DC songs you Bonio. Christ.
-
More Than a Feeling - Boston
Is it really on the Mt Rushmore?
Perhaps for you it is …
For me, I'll definitely put the following over "Long Way to the Top" (in no particular order):
"Highway to Hell"
"Thunderstruck"
"Back in Black"
"Shook Me All Night Long"
There's obviously a lengthy catalog of other options to put into consideration as well …
Don't @ me for questioning whether "Long Way to the Top" is a Top 5 AC/DC song …
I would expect the average person probably would put the 4 songs I have above higher on their personal lists than "Long Way to the Top" … so is that going to be higher than every other AC/DC song for the average person? Probably not.
Fucking row boat nerd

Blitzkrieg Bop - Ramones
** Fucking Row Boat Nerd who has OG pressings of all these albums and got a 4.0 in History of Popular Music at UW**
Thunderstruck? Christ? That's some Pixar kiddy movie soundtrack shit that @SECDAWG would vote for. Shook Me All Night long is great but that's sorority girl wedding AD DC.
Long Way to the Top is the lead off track on the 1st LP and set the blueprint for their entire career. And it has a dirty, greasy grit which you don't get on the Brian Johnson era stuff.
You can't understand AC DC without Long Way.
-
Blitzkrieg Bop - Ramones
Look Meng if you're gonna draw the line on omitting riffs that are "simplistic" then most of AC/DC's catalog is out. FFS Highway to Hell, Dirty Deeds, Whole Lotta Rosie, and TNT are some of their best riffs and they're basic as fuck. And it's not just AC/DC either...Smoke on the Water, Paranoid, and Whole Lotta Love are ez peezy to play for a beginner. It's the structure of the chords and the timing between chord changes in the riff that makes it work so GD great. Alas, it's your name on the neon lights so you're gonna do what u think is best for the Shoppe
-
Blitzkrieg Bop - Ramones
Yes, the AC DC stuff is simple. I mean even a total hacker life me can get our my 'Merican Strat (no SG for this guy) plug in and play most of those riffs. But they still require a little bit of fast picking in spots- e.g., Back in Black or Whole Lotta Rosie.
Night Movies is literally throw a capo on a strum 3 chords. Incredibly memorably it just didn't feel right for this exercise compared to when I put in stuff like Here Come's the Sun and Hotel California.
At any rate, that's my (highly subjective) editorial judgement.
-
More Than a Feeling - Boston
I respect "Long Way …"
It just isn't on my Rushmore
That's the great thing about music … to each their own
Untangle those panties peter puffer
-
Blitzkrieg Bop - Ramones
Boxers only for this guy. Boxer briefs (or briefs) = panties and are for sissies.

More Than a Feeling - Boston
A little add-on to my #MusicSuperiority over you Pisser …

It's a Long Way to the Top (if you want to Rock and Roll) - AC/DC
My AC/DC Mt. Rushmore is Long Way to the Top, Walk All Over You, Hells Bells and Whole Lotta Rosie. And I feel like an accommodation should be made for at least four more songs because leaving off Highway to Hell, TNT, Sin City, and Let There Be Rock seems criminal to me.
Their library of killer songs is pretty extensive.

It's a Long Way to the Top (if you want to Rock and Roll) - AC/DC
I'm going in
To Sin City

It's a Long Way to the Top (if you want to Rock and Roll) - AC/DC
Dammit, Yella, you keep changing the rules on me! I believe I made this same point about Cobain's guitar work on a different poll…ffs.

It's a Long Way to the Top (if you want to Rock and Roll) - AC/DC
I'm gonna win.
In Sin City.

Soul Stripper is under rated as well

More Than a Feeling - Boston
One might argue that Long Time with or without Foreplay is the more bad ass riff, but More Than a Feeling is ultimately the one you have to go with.
