In the history of college football there have only been 3 National Champions with 2 losses.
2024 - Ohio State
2007 - LSU
1960 - Minnesota
And Minnesota only had 1 loss before they were crowned by The AP and Coaches polls. Their 2nd loss came against Washington on the field in the REAL national championship game. As @SFGbob knows well, the Bread Company was ahead of its time in picking the true NC after the bowl games were played.

Washington won it in 1960 and 1984.
The admin should grow some cajones and hang 2023 just to troll Michigan and Oregon. Michigan cheated and the DAWGS lost the right way
Not germane to this exercise, however. BYU, while being a fraud, didn't lose in 1984.
My Uncle was there! (player)
Their best win was a 6-6 team
Michigan fucked us in the Holiday Bowl.
Actually insane a team could win a national title ending the season with a seven point win over an unranked 6-5 team in their bowl game. That would have been a greater for a playoff. Florida was #3 but was sanctioned so couldn't play bowl game.
Due to the brilliance of college football UCLA (who finished#9) and UW didn't even play that year. Good. Guaranteed loss.
Man, why would you want the Natty game anywhere else? Is there anything more boring and antiseptic than Atlanta and their stupid dome? NOLA and their concrete monstrosity of a dome? Why do you need a dome in the those places anyway? The most pleasant time to be in the southeast is in the winter. Yeah, it gets cold in GA, but it's a dry cold.
Anyway, Miami, Phoenix and Pasadena. Outside. Grass. Real games. Play the natty in those places and fuck the domed stadiums. Punish locations that have nice weather and still build domes by never having anything in those locales.
I was fine @creepycoug with 1991 and the FS sportswriters giving you a participation award NC.
Both those games were played on tough grass fields with tough old stadiums.
Suites at bowl games are for soft old guys like @RaceBannon !!
I know what you’re saying with 1960, but to me, the Helms Foundation recognition will always be associated with Todd Turner and a public relations stunt to distract from what a shitty football AD he was.
Nice try Co-Jack.
Before Christmas 1984 the pundits had crowded Oklahoma the National Champion. Beating poor Warshington in the Orange Bowl was a forgone conclusion, people forget that.
Barry Switzer said the OB was for the natty
WoolleyDoog's Dad remembered. From a young age he always told me how about they went into that game and the deal was if Oklahoma won they were national champions, but if UW won BYU was.
They beat us in 85 early in the season at Utah and it wasn’t close. I was listening on the radio waiting for a comeback which never came, they kicked our ass.
Same season we lost to Oregon State as a massive favorite at home, not an enjoyable season. @RaceBannon would have fired James after the 86 or 87 season for sure.
I even specifically remember that the 1984 Holiday Bowl was played well BEFORE Christmas.
Dec 21, 1984.
Good retention Husky Football Rainman !
