Seemed like last year was a great opportunity for Miami to at least make the playoff and they couldn't even do that. My assumption is it's more about the weakness of the field than anything they've shown. Outside of Penn State, a lot of this is based on name brand, past recruiting rankings, and assumed portal scores.
It was. But they weren't that good. I mean, most of their games were close and Cristobal mailed in his typical two to three turds. And that was with Ward, a great one-two punch in the running game and an O line with depth. Their only roster weakness, and it was a big one, was the D backfield. So bad Will Rogers could have passed on them. But with that schedule, it still should not have been that big of a problem.
The secret shame down there is that there are guys starting here and there who just aren't that great. Miami always has some guys who will have good NFL careers but they don't rosters full of them like Georgia or Buck. This WSU pipeline thing? GTFO.
Just not that good. They would have gotten cooked by anyone in the playoffs save for maybe Boise State and their fake tough stats back. I hate that we? play Notre Dame next season because I think they Irish are going to be a tough out for them.

UW should be ten times that
Take Penn State. It's Franklin's turn to go Ryan Day redemption tour.
What on earth did anyone see from Miami this year that would indicate there is a snow ball's chance in hell of a natty?
And most of what was good for them has left.
