Just did this @RoadTrip . My only regret is that I didn't do it earlier. Even with the uptick in pricing to like $82 / mo, it is a small fraction of what I was paying. I don't (think) I miss any sports. ESPN, etc. is all on there. And then you watch network TV from the platform. It's all there. I think if you go channel by channel there are some things you don't get and things you get with other services and visa versa. But overall we are thrilled with it. The platform and interface is easy and intuitive, super easy to record stuff, etc.
I kept cable as my ISP. It went from $380 something/ mo to like $65 / mo. Oh, also make sure if you keep your cable ISP that you're not "renting" that shitty router they gave you years ago. Tell them you'll turn it in and buy your own, and when you say that they'll say, "Oh no, we don't want it." Fuckers. Fuck me for paying $12/mo for the last however many years renting something they'd throw away if I dropped it off. It works fine, so that's not an issue. They also don't even want the cable box back. Unreal.
Fucking do it. Even with all the other streaming services I have - Prime, Hulu, Apple, Netflix, Peacock and one or two others, I'm still ahead of what I was paying with cable. And I was going to have those services anyway because cable content sucked balls. But even with them, I'm still below the close to $400/ mo I was paying the shit bird cable company.
Youtube TV is the shit. I fucking love it, and believe me, I was apprehensive to switch because I'm old and don't like learning new tricks. I have two sons-in-law who talked me over the hump. Wish I'd pulled the trigger sooner. Thousands of dollars more for a lesser product. Thank God for the US and competition. May it ever be so.

Only reason I can't do that is because the Mrs. likes the network news and a few other things that I can't get through streaming platforms. Otherwise, I'd be in the same position.

If only you had Starlink, you could give cable both middle fingers.
All praise to Elon.

Youtube TV is pretty good, although it keeps switching my local channels. You can watch it on a COMPATIBLE TV, phone, and computer. My TV is too old to be compatible I guess, so I have been watching sports ball on my phone and computer. Cox is close to double the price for maybe a few more channels and the technology sucks.
The only non-sports thing I really watch on any kind of regular basis is MTV Classick or whatever it's called.

The father in law called and said he is ditching his shitty cable, something called Optimum in east Texas. They jacked his prices up. So he calls me and says he bought two Rokus and a box that records. So, we will be adding him to our YTTV account. He didn’t want to do it earlier as YTTV doesn’t get History Channel and he watches those Curse of Oak Island and Skin walker Ranch shows. I tell him he can download the History channel app on the Roku and he can get those shows. Hooking him up this weekend
another cool thing with YTTV is you can order the channels how you want. Alphabetical or your preference. And you can hide channels you don’t want to see. It also shows you the channels you get. Many cable providers or Dish show you a ton of channels and you click on it and it ain’t part of your package. -
This streaming shit is getting old fast. Between my comcast and streaming options, I'm probably at $320/month
But once you a la carte the individual streaming options, you basically pay the same fucking price, but have like 6-7 different apps you have to click to search for what you want to watch. My in laws switched to Fubo to save like $150/month, but then had to add some things they lost, so it saved them maybe $50, but now use our fucking streaming accounts to watch stuff to save face, and they still don't get a lot of basic channels that come with cable.

If start to cancel streaming services, they'll usually give you a free month, or six months for $2.99 or something.
-
I had Peacock for a game earlier in the season and went to cancel. They offered $1.99 month for 6 months. I took the offer and cancelled after the season ended. Their content sucks.
-
I don't even know what I was paying for The Cock, but it was too much. There's nothing on there.
-
It’s like $8-10 per month and I only needed it for the first cock game and was gonna cancel and pay the $8-10 if UW had another cock game but the $2 per month covered the season and at the time, one of the movies available was John Carpenter’s The Thing. It was gone before I had a chance to watch it.
