It's an example, and yes it's cheaper to build and remove a heap of sand compared to softball and baseball stadiums, but it makes no sense at UW specifically. Football, rowing, basketball, and the softball team should be essential and they figure out the rest. Maybe they cut no sports and all the administrative bloat gets taken out first.

But it's clear that even at schools like Oregon State and Wazzu that they took the promises from Larry Scott and the Pac12N and overspent and now that all this new shit is coming down the pipeline they'd rather sell the fans on paying for everything than figuring it out themselves.

as @RaceBannon said you need some women’s sports outside of what you listed to match the 85 (soon to be more) football scholarships. Beach vb gets you 25% of the way there and in a very cost efficient manner. Any other women’s sport will come with a higher cost.

College athletics just needs to come up some more cost-effective women’s sports:

    • Hopscotch
    • Jump roping
    • Croquet
    • Badminton
    • Archery

    This isn’t hard folks.

I've seen some smoke to suggest it but I've been wondering if there is momentum growing in the Title IX crowds about fairness since it's really pivoted from scholarships to NIL being the value of the athletes in football and basketball. I still think scholarship are an exceptional deal for non revenue sports athletes but I know that's not how those people think.

I'll always remember like 6 years ago when The Daily Show and John Oliver did segments on college sports and suddenly I had dipshits at work and ex's family members lecturing me about the hypocrisy of college sports with zero intel on how they actually work.

Yeah, it’s shocking how many stupid Americans there are. More dumbos out there than bright people that’s for sure.

It just seems wrong to give money to any athlete whose sport doesn’t bring in a positive return.

In other words, if you’re a cost center, fuck off and be happy you have a job. Or LEAVE.

Maybe some of the women’s sports can get creative. Topless Tennis. Bottomless Basketball. Naked Golf. That might turn a profit.

Wet T-shirt contests can be pretty competitive.

Also, sammich making? Not everyone can do it.
