I turned 18 in 74 missing the draft and the war was all but over. The military was not popular nor would it be until Gulf War 1
Biden, Trump, and that generation did all they could to get out of the draft.
And Walz still lied about his service

Or actively eliminate white America First males from the military or promote based on DEI rather than who are actually the best soldiers. You don't make climate change the military's top priority. The left views the military as a toxic institution that needs to be neutered. Much on the right view the US military as a cash cow. Navy can't build new ships, the air force can't develop new planes on time and on budget. Doesn't matter if weapons don't work, it just matters they get funded.
No body got fired for the Afghanistan bugaloo except for some Colonel who got cashiered because he told the truth. You are promoted for proper use of pronouns and how woke you are.

Multi generation military family, pops was SF in Cambodia. He kept me out.
Glad he did, I probably would have been kicking in doors in a "military action" in Pakistan or Syria for Dick Cheney and Obama.
All my military family is essentially telling the next generation not to serve until things change.
