When Doves Cry - Prince
I could've easily gone with Yes or Tina. Maybe I should've. I do think this is a great song though.

F.O. Row Peter Puffer, you left off...
I like “Missing You” by John Waite. Got dumped that year.
The Reflex from Duran Duran has quite a bit of staying power.

Time After Time - Cyndi Lauper
Nothing from this year is really a YUGE favorite for me except Cyndi Lauper and the Prince stuff. I fucking love Time after Time.
I love the 80s but it starts the get into the era where the #1 Hit Singles aren't my cup of tea.

1985 and 1986 were better years imho.

What's Love Got to Do With It - Tina Turner

Owner of A Lonely Heart - Yes
Prince was technically the #1 single that year. I almost voted for it, but I don't like much of his stuff so I allowed my bias against him to override that thought.
I never turn off Owner of a Lonely Heart when I heart it played because it's not very often that I hear it, so it got my vote.

Owner of A Lonely Heart - Yes
Time After Time…FFS, Yella. Did you get your first boob grab while listening to that song or something?

When Doves Cry - Prince
It really is a pretty little tune. Re: Cindy Lauper bias...Don't forget, she had a hit song about masturbating. That has to be worth some credit.
I saw Yes at the Coliseum when they had those 80s hits. They were fucking good.

What's Love Got to Do With It - Tina Turner
I'm a 70s Yes guy. Hated the 80s Yes

Time After Time - Cyndi Lauper
Boy do I love educating my girlfriend who was born in the 90s about Cyndi Lauper when she talks about how like groundbreaking Billie Eilish and Chappell Roan and their styles and music are….
