HCH BOOK CLUB | Summer Project: Carlos Castaneda

Carlos Castaneda is a controversial figure.
In his 12 volume tome, beginning in the psychedelic 60’s, Casteneda claims to have learned Native American Shamanism from a Yaqui shaman, don Juan Matous. It started as various psychedelic trips, to being able to “see” a separate reality. Then ultimately to ‘sorcery’ as an enlightened Shaman. It’s a process.
Similar to other works on mysticism, it’s incumbent upon the reader to determine for themselves “what is real”.
Anybody is welcome to read along. Go at your own speed. It’s mind-bending.
Beginning June 1, I hope to read 5-7 hours per week this summer and work through as many titles as possible, chronologically. I hope to give weekly updates on Casteneda’s journey via this thread.
It’s aggressive. We’ll see how it goes.
I read the first 3-4 titles 15ish years ago. I look forward to reading them again.
