Welcome to the Hardcore Husky Forums. Folks who are well-known in Cyberland and not that dumb.
observations from open practice 2
QBs:
Williams had the best day, think he could be a real stud. If his decision making improves, which it seemed to from Saturday to Wednesday, I could see him beating Miles out for the starting gig.
Miles was alright. Threw 2 picks, one was inexcusable, the other was a semi nice play by Kevin King. Also lead a couple TD drives and had some good passes and a nice 15 yard run.
Lindquist is the most 'meh' of the bunch. Doesn't do anything particularly great nor does he do anything that awful. He might be fast, but he got ran down by #90 on a 4th and 4 so he isn't particularly quick. Where Miles got to the outside and beat everyone down the sideline on a similar play.
I do think it's down to a Williams/Miles race. So that means Lindquist will probably get the nod in the Hawaii game.
Team drill starting at the 25:
Miles - pick, TD, 2 point conversion good.
Williams - TD, 2 point conversion good.
Lindquist - 4 and out.
RBs:
Just helmets, hard to tell anything but Washington and Coleman are the guys.
WRs:
Ross was out there and I think he breaks out this year. Took him on and end around option, Beaver came up to stop him next thing you know Beaver is on the ground and Ross is heading down the sideline.
Mickens also had a nice day. Took a 25 yard slant pattern from Williams to the house.
Kasen didnt do much. I would like to see Lenius and Pettis get in the mix, big dudes.
Daniels is going to be a beast.
OL
No pads, don't care
DL:
No pads don't care
LB:
Bierra, working with the 1st team, had an INT off Miles.
DB
I think we will be fine in the secondary. So go ahead and screenshot this when that Eastern QB looks like Tom fucking Brady. Peters is a stud, Kelly locked down Ross a few plays (though 1 was probably a PI), I do think Kevin King eventually is a starter somewhere. Budda was subbing in as a nickle back with the 1s.
The punting unit looked much better (step up from complete dumpster fire).
Ross has a knack for returning kicks, where a guy with similar speed and quickness (Mickens) really doesn't.
Anyways, one last open scrimmage on Saturday at 3pm before Petersen closes the gates. It's like revenge of the nerds out there.

Mathis was there, too.
Do all the reading between the lines you want on that.
Pettis is a good looking prospect at receiver. Glad to see him mentioned.

NERDS!!!!!!
No, really.
UW actually practiced onside kicks for a good 15 minutes, punt coverage for another 15 minutes. When they were practicing onside kicks (Peterman is the returner coach) Ross was in the back all by himself. The kick team did a long kick in onside formation and Peterman was right by Ross and he basically showed him how to get the ball, run just past the 20 yard line and lay down. It was hilarious to see and I think it was a perfect example of the "details" that Peterman talks about.
On a side note, I am sure Kent and Ektard were probably laughing during this. Not realizing that when you have no blockers for you and the game is on the line the best thing to do is get as much yardage as possible and lay down before you get hit like a truck by 5 members of the opposing team. This also helps prevent a turnover when said hit happens, especially when you have no teammates around you.
