Let the pillaging begin

There isn’t 24/7/365 free agency. UW and UofA players can portal because their coaches left.BleachedAnusDawg said:
I completely agree with this. Not enjoying any of the "UW buying players from Arizona" stuff that's going on, but I understand that's how it works right now and you gotta do it to survive. Some actual, binding rules need to get established very soon on this. You can't have 24/7/365 free agency - this is all unsustainable. We're basically going to be cheering for the Arizona Wildcats in UW jerseys by the time this process is all said and done. I'm not going to remain a mega fan in the future if something doesn't change with the structure of the portal.Doogles said:
It's all so fucked, imagine you're Fifita, you're a god on campus everyone loves you, Zona sorority strange throwing themselves your way, coach and system you believe in, primed for a season that will make you a Legend for all-time.Boner said:Not that they are here to play school, but how does transferring mid quarter/semester work? Does a guy from zona just drop classes, come to UW, work out/practice, and not have to start class until summer or fall quarters?
And now because your coach was poached your foundation is completely rocked and uncertain.
The new addition of players to the offseason musical chairs act isn't good for the sport in any capacity. Somebody is going to get caught holding the bag, fan engagement will plummet outside of like 20 schools.
How is that not fair. -
Sounds like Zona is hiring Nansen and the players are all tweeting that they are staying with him.
If true, yet another kick in the nuts -
Not good if Nansen is hired. Will need a QB and a whole new OL. Yikes
-
We need everything except kicker basically. We are fucked next year. The pillaging was over before it ever began.LongDukDong said:Not good if Nansen is hired. Will need a QB and a whole new OL. Yikes
Even if we get someone at this point it's likely a mercenary type we over paid for and we will be repeating it all over again next year. This really is the death penalty. -
That would be kinda odd considering their entire offensive staff is following Fisch.bananasnblondes said:Sounds like Zona is hiring Nansen and the players are all tweeting that they are staying with him.

Bottom line is NIL. No way they are choosing Nansen over a fat payday. I'd imagine montlake futures is well stocked after this last season. Unless of course they let it all rip for the title run.bananasnblondes said:Sounds like Zona is hiring Nansen and the players are all tweeting that they are staying with him.

That seems better than the facade of the past 20 years to be honest. Although it plays right into Oregon’s pocketbook.RoadTrip said:
For now college football as we? once knew it is dead. I guess this will turn into which programs can pay enough to stay in the top 12 with another 10 vying for a glimpse every 3 or 5 years. What's the point of being a fan of a team that never cracks the top 12? Do people really want to look forward to the Cheez It’s bowl?Doogles said:

TMac, Fifita, Manu and Burnett are all teammates from Servite HS. They made a huge deal about all signing with Zona. Maybe they don’t want to split and not finish together?digits said:

They can all portal here and get money. No way Arizona can pay as much as we can. We will see soon how this all shakes out
-
I'm giving less of a fuck by the day, but if the best players on Zona's roster aren't following Fisch to UW, then this hire is a disaster.
-
Ah, I knew about Fifita and TMac, didn't know about the other two. Manu is a beast.46XiJCAB said:

I was surprised Coleman did an about face. Based on their public statements on social media yesterday, I'd be equally shocked. I hope I'm wrong again.DoogerMcFarland said:

Wait til after spring ball and they get a chance to see Nansen in action. They may not portal here, but they will portal.
-
If it's about a pay day sc probably would beat us on money if they truly hit the portal. Also if it is Nansen there is a chance one or some of the staff returns to zona with a raise or promotion. The idea all their best players were coming here always seemed very far fetched.wooderson92 said:

First things first, we need a freaking quarterback. And one that can run unless we can get our offensive line back somehow. -
cant believe im sayin this/this is happening, but we? need sark to talk some sense into nansen to stay at texas.

I always knew we would hate Fisch I just had no idea it would happen so soonMakaDawg said:I'm giving less of a fuck by the day, but if the best players on Zona's roster aren't following Fisch to UW, then this hire is a disaster.

That look when you find out your new HC is a candidate for the HC job at your former school.

False alarm. Looks like it’s Brent Brennan. We got this
-
They somehow think they’ll bring Nansen back as DC to keep the roster together, despite losing him a week ago to be co-DC at Texas.LongDukDong said:False alarm. Looks like it’s Brent Brennan. We got this
I don’t know how they would plan to pay him more money in their financial situation, but maybe the boosters and players compromised somehow. -
Nansen isnt missing out on an opportunity to get Sark back on the liquor bandwagonDoogerMcFarland said:

bingo, floodgates open tomorrow? -
Now the players can revolt for not hiring Patron.
-
Wont someone think of the poor San Jose State Spartan fans?
It's interesting how much of a ripple effect one coach retiring has on the sport -
Does San Jose state have any players we want? Fuck, that’s sad to say.
